Hello all, i am looking for help/advice. Sorry I don't normally post, i just usually lurk. As of a week ago and help with Merlin's magical sleep suit my 14 week old son is now STTN (down at 8:30pm up at 4:30 to eat back down until 8am). Prior to STTN he was eating 6 oz every 4 hours. Now that he is STTN during the day he is eating 5-6 oz every 2.5-3 hours. Does this sound normal? How much are your LO's eating at this age? I don't have his 4 month appt scheduled until mid-Sept.
Re: How much does your 14 week old eat?
My DS takes three to four 4-5oz bottles of BM at daycare every 2-2.5 hours and then nurses the rest of the time with me. I am assuming he gets about that much when nursing. Total between bottles and nursing he eats about 7 times ina 24 hour period.
I think it sounds normal since he is sleeping through the night. He needs more food to fill him during the day to keep him asleep through the night.
LO is also SSTN now. Usually in bed around 7:30/8 PM and sleeps until about 6AM. She nurses at 6 AM, then at daycare she has 4 oz. of BM about every 3 hours, then when we get home, she will nurse again (around 6/6:30 PM), then about 7:15ish, I give her a 4 oz. bottle of formula to get her good and full.
So, based on my calculations, about 20-24oz in 24 hours. I asked daycare if she still seemed hungry after the 4 oz at school and they said no. We have her 4 month appt mid-Sept, so I thought I would ask then if she should be getting more.
If she needs more I may have to supplement with formula. I don't produce more than that with pumping. I get just enough for next day's bottles. Not sure how the other ladies are getting so much milk from pumping. I just have never produced much. I have been trying Yummy Mummy lactation cookies but haven't noticed much difference. I drink a ton of water and have started taking Fenugreek. Hopefully that will start to help produce more.
My son is STTN for the past 6 weeks now (he will be 12 weeks this Friday). He gets 4 bottles a day and there is 8oz in each bottle. However for the past week or so the formual is not cutting it with him so we spoke with the dr. and they said giving him a couple teaspoons of cereal is fine. We have a big boy so he's an eater like his daddy! At his 2 month appt on Aug 1st he weighed 15lbs. 2oz and was 25" long! He's got to be at least 16lbs now!
