Cute lunch check-in

Only four lunches this week. The kindergarten crud has already hit our house and DD had her first sick day (and unexcused absence, but that's a story for another day).

Bunnies! She had two PB/honey sandwiches stacked on top of each other, with a sprinkle for the nose. There's also a silicone container of petite carrots, bunch of mini grapes (adorable!), a few strawberries with bunny picks, a silicone with graham bunnies, a few Annie's chewy bunnies and cherry tomatoes. The best part for me, though, is the Cheddar cheese stick that I carved into a carrot-like shape, with green leaf picks on top. I was proud of that idea! This was packed in a Tupperware sandwich container, and I put a doubled piece of food paper on top to keep it all in place, as the lid is quite deep and DD's lunch box gets tossed around a lot.

Dinosaurs. I cooked a few dinosaur chicken nuggets the night before. They are surrounded by blueberries with a little container of ketchup. In the bottom half of this Sistema container (from Old Navy) is a very haphazardly arranged collection of Babybel cheese, cucumber (separated by a silicone divider), petite carrots, cherry tomatoes and a Kiss that I colored with brown and red to look like a volcano. I will brag and say that because my DD did not quite finish her lunch, she waited until she had finished the rest of the food after school to eat the chocolate. That's a lot of self control for a 5 yr old! This container is rather small, so I also included a small sidecar of strawberries with a dinosaur pick (allthingsforsale.com).

I just love our sandwich sealer! I bought the one that is in grocery store endcaps and I have to say it just doesn't compare to this one. Our Krustbuster from Amazon (though I'm not sure if it's still sold there) seals the bread halfway between the two pieces. The grocery store sealer pushes the top piece of bread all the way down to the bottom, leaving it stretched out and not pretty. Anyway, DD requested a Minnie sandwich, so here it is. Blueberries topped with a homemade PB/honey sandwich, with Cheddar and Havarti cheese details (the Mickey cutter is from Party City and the bow is from a Hello Kitty set, but you could also use two heart sprinkles). There's also cucumber slices, a little silicone suitcase with a koala cookie inside, and a sidecar of cantaloupe.

Last and least cute, leftovers. Spaghetti and meatballs in a thermal container (preheated with boiling water, and I prewarmed the food), a sidecar of strawberries, blueberries and cucumbers, and a little container on the right with Parmesan for sprinkling. I again wrote on the disposable spoon (saved and will be reused).

PIP your lunches here! And if you're not making cute lunches, at least put a few sprinkles in their yogurt ... it will surely bring a smile!
