Sex

Well after my 6 week appointment last Friday my H and I decided to give it a go over the weekend.

It was awful. :( It hurt so bad and I decided to stop after only a couple of minutes.

Is it this painful for anyone else? STMs, when does it feel normal again?

Re: Sex

  • With DS we didn't attempt until 4 months post partum. It felt weird to me. Not the same. It took awhile until it felt normal again but it did eventually. It didn't hurt though.

I haven't even thought about it yet for this one. She was sunny side up and did a number to me. Even though I'm healed, I know things won't be the same for awhile. Its the last thing I want to do right now :)

Good luck. I would wait a little while longer and then try again. Don't worry, everything will go back to normal eventually....but I think its different for everyone. For me, it takes a long time.

  • With DD, I had an episiotomy and 3rd degree tear. We did it after the 6 week all clear but took it VERY slowly and while I wouldn't say it was enjoyable, we got through it. After the first time, it got easier each time. I'd say it took about 2 months for it to start feeling normal again. Use plenty of lube though.

  • I am now 7 weeks pp...We tried when my doc gave us the all clear at 4 weeks. I had an episotomy and oh my gosh it hurt...It felt like it would rip the incision. It was so uncomfortable. I didn't even last a minute...more like several seconds. I had my 6 week pp. and again doc says it should be ok...However, I think I'm a little traumatized about the first experience, so I'm very hesitant to try again... :(
  • We tried over the weekend (we're now 6 weeks out) and OMG it was like losing my virginity all over again!  And I had a c-section, so I don't even know why.  But yeah, hurt a lot, didn't last the whole time, hoping things will get better soon.

  • Thanks for your responses ladies. I'm glad it's not just me. I did have an episiotomy and I still am not feeling right.

I'll definitely be taking it slow. I'm not sure when I'll be brave enough to try again though.

  • We went for it at 6 weeks pp. I definatly wouldnt have tried sooner. It hurt at first for the first 5min or so then i just sucked it up and used a wild imagination next thing i knew it started feeling really good. Although it hurt i was tense at first and it was all built up in my head that it was going to hurt. Once i relaxed and let my mind relax it was ok. Im wondering after my experience if alot of it is mental and we put so much stress on it.. i hope it is better for you next time. It has gotten easier each time though
  • We tried it a few weeks ago now I delivered via c-section so nothing needed healing down there. We had to take it very slow but it didnt hurt in fact it felt better than when I was pregnant

  • Maybe I'm the odd ball, but while it wasn't painfree, it wasn't that bad. It hurt more afterwards for a couple hours.

  • We tried for the 1st time last night.  It was great until like 5 min into it when I dried up so bad we had to quite since no lube was on hand.  ( I have never had to use lube).

  • We tried 7 weeks postpartum, used lots of lube. it hurt really bad when I was on my back so we switched to me on top which was better because I could control the speed.

  • Here's TMI, but my motherf-ing stiches are not healing correctly so I might have to go under the knife to get it fixed.  At my 6 week appointment yesterday the doctor told me to wait another month to DTD and decide about the surgery.  Have you ever heard of such a thing?!?? Needless to say there will be no sexy time at our house for a while.

Of course my gay bestie is now spreading the rumor that I am getting vaginal rejuvenation.  Bastard!

  • I had two second degree tears, one at the top, the other at the bottom.  I tried it at 6 weeks pp and it was very uncomfortable but we made it through.  I'm 8 weeks pp and it's starting to be less uncomfortable, though I still feel like nothing feels right down there.

  • I'm with you.  We've tried twice now and I didn't make it either time.  Both times I've bled and I'm pretty sure it was from tearing and not from extra discharge (which I've heard can also happen).  I keep looking things up online, but all I've learned is that time is the only thing that can help.  : (
