Is Harrison becoming a popular name?

I know its not like Mason or Jack but is it becoming fairly common?  i try not to use names in the top 100 or 200.

Re: Is Harrison becoming a popular name?

  • It was #197 in 2011, so I think it may be growing in popularity. I think it's a great, strong name, though!

  • It is definitely becoming more common, it's in the surname as a first name trend, Jackson, Anderson, Harrison, etc.

  • I'm a teacher and have had a Harrison the last 2 years - but I teach middle school, so that's 1 out of 130 not 1 out of 25! I'd say it's gaining popularity but isn't overused! It's a nice name - I like it!

  • I do think it's gaining in popularity, but I do like it. This is one of the only surnames that I like as a first name. It was also my great-grandfather's middle name and he was born in 1887, so I think it has a little more history than some of the others.

  • I don't know if it's popular, but Harrison was the first name I threw out there for my husband's approval. (I was wanting to name the baby after the Beatles [George Harrison] without having something common like Paul or John. Plus, my favorite actor has pretty much always been Harrison Ford [Han Solo].) He instantly agreed upon it. Then we found out the baby is a girl and now we can't decide on a name! Funny how things work out.
  • I've never met one IRL but I really like the name. It's quickly rising to the top of my list. The only thing holding me back is the potential nickname of Harry. I don't like it.
