I decided to start looking at bedding early because there are so many choices, well my husband had "sticker shock". He suggested WALMART for bedding, I do like the store but they aren't known for amazing quality(in most cases). Has anyone bought crib bedding from WALMART? How is it?
Re: Crib bedding from WALMART?
I agree with PP about not getting a set. With my oldest, we bought a set and used the sheet and crib skirt....the bumper and quilt that came with it stayed folded up in the bag since you're not supposed to use bumpers or have anything in the crib with the baby.
For DS2, I bought crib sheets and my MIL made me a solid color crib skirt to match the room.
I wouldn't bother. The George line was okay, doesn't look nice after a few washes. Don't even bother with the Simply line, the fitted sheets never stayed on the mattress. I just used fitted sheets, usually Kushies (Sears/BRU) on sale and found a coordinating skirt. I also like the Skip Hop line that looks like bumpers (with the print on the side of the fitted sheets). It's pricier though.
We skipped a bedding set since you are not supposed to put the comforter or crib bumpers into the crib. Instead we went to IKEA and got several packages of 100 percent cotton sheets that have elastic all the way around, 2 sheets for 10.00 and they are soft.
I did go with a breathable bumper for 21.00 on amazon but not for the baby. More to keep my dog from putting her nose between the slats which she loves doing already.
I bought muslin swaddleme blankets to use if the baby is cold.
This. Seriously. I donated my bedding set a long time ago - never used it. Just get sheets.
I got a bedding set from walmart and 3 additional sheets. All the sheets and the set are holding up well. Good quality
But with that being said a set is a waist. One I lowered the crib I couldnt use the dust ruffle, the bumper is used now as a teething rail and the comforter is hanging on the wall.
I should have skipped the sheet and got gone the 3 pack of sheets.
I've also opted to not get a set since you can't usually use it in it's entirety anyway. We bought two elasticized sheets, and I'd like to pick-up a crib skirt at some point, but that's it.
Much cheaper than going the bedding set route, too. It feels good to know you've saved money by foregoing things like that!
