I know that one year is the magic age for so many things, but I'm still unsure about a few things.
FF/RF - This is the obvious no brainer here, legally okay to FF at 1yr and 20lbs, but I will continue to RF.
WCM - My pedi said it was okay to start introducing it at 10 months given her iron levels were fine. I am not a huge fan of milk so I don't mind waiting. He said to do 25%WCM/75%BM, then 50/50, then 75/25, until 100%. However, what exactly is the point? Is it to replace BM/FF altogether? Is the point of mixing it in the bottle so she can gradually get used to the taste? Should it then just be given with solid meals?
Bottles - I've heard that they should no longer have bottles by 1yr. So does that mean I just give BM in a sippy? Or is that just only if I wean off of BF at 1yr.
BF - If I wean at 1yr, what takes it's place? Does she just have solids exclusively? Or is this where the WCM comes in?
Honey - So this only refers to giving LO raw honey, correct?
Am I missing anything else that is "supposed to" happen at 1yr? I will be asking my pedi these questions at her 1yr appointment, but figured I'd see what I can do now.

Re: Changes at 1yr
WCM - However, what exactly is the point? Is it to replace BM/FF altogether? Is the point of mixing it in the bottle so she can gradually get used to the taste? Should it then just be given with solid meals? The point is to wean LO of BM/F, replace it altogether (although they will be drinking much less). If you still want to give LO BM then I would continue giving BM until you are ready to quit (but don't give it in a bottle after 12 months). Many babies will not switch over to whole milk cold turkey so some doctors suggest mixing whole milk with BM/F so you can more easily wean them of BM/F.
Yes, start giving LO all their drinks in a sippy after that point. You will want to introduce the sippy before then to get them used to it. I have heard on here that many LOs refuse to drink BM/F in sippy cups though because they are used to drinking it in bottles so you may have a transition problem. Plus, you may have a problem finding the right sippy cup. It took about 4 different sippy cups before we found one that DD would use. I would try the soft spout sippy cups first (they are more bottle like). You can give them BM, formula if you wish to continue (I know a few brands make 24 mo+ formulas), whole milk, water in their sippy. They will still need liquids in addition to their solid foods. The reason for the "no bottle after 12 months" has to do with hindering speech (they don't use all their mouth muscles when they use a bottle) and teeth health issues.
Honey - So this only refers to giving LO raw honey, correct? Am I missing anything else that is "supposed to" happen at 1yr? Honey can cause botulism in babies. Botulism spores cannot thrive and grow in more mature bodies, 12 months +. 6 months and younger are at highest risk for botulism but there is still a risk until 12 months. They suggest avoiding all honey because even though cooking is supposed to kill the spores there is still a risk that some will survive.
Rf is recommended until 2 now
Wcm- the gradual increase is to get her used to the taste and ease her stomach. Milk can irritate little tummies.
Bottles- pedis like to be rid of them by a year, I think part s the development of teeth. DD used hers at nap/bed with milk until about 18 months
BF- milk and solids replace it
Honey- after 1 to reduce risk of botulism
WCM - milk will not replace BM/formula ounce for ounce. As you transition it might, but eventually it become a beverage and not a food source and they should have about 12-16oz a day. Mixing it helps them adjust to the difference in taste and lets their stomachs adjust to digesting it.
Bottles - most pedis say no bottles after a year, but IMO it's not horrible for them to have it for a few extra months while you transition. DD1 took a bottle until 14 months. We will aim to have DD2 off the bottle by 13 months. I prefer to make the milk transition before the bottle transition, but you could do it the other way around.
Honey - all honey is safe after a year. I prefer to play it safe and give no honey before year, cooked or otherwise, but some will give honey graham crackers and such before a year.
The only other things I can think of that are often suggested to wait until a year for are peanut butter and egg whites. We have given both of those before a year without issue, but we have no history of food allergies in either of our families.
DD1 Feb 2010
DD2 Sept 2011
All of this. We plan to wean the daytime bottles at 12 months, but will continue the nighttime bottle until 13 months. We did the same thing with DD1.
