I don't necessarily think he should be stripped of his Tour medals. If he is, who are they going to give them to? I think trying to find an elite cyclist who DOESN'T dope is going to be pretty difficult.

Wow, that article is very poorly written and insinuates a lot of things that aren't true. It basically sets you up with all the evidence against him and says nothing about how the "evidence" is incredibly shaky at best. This isn't the first time these allegations have been brought up, the tests looked at, etc... And each time before now, they've concluded that the evidence isn't even close to enough to strip him of his titles. If the evidence is there, why wasn't this done long ago? Why do the Tour de France officials STILL back him when they've striped other riders of titles and banned other riders from competing? Maybe he really was just that good. A few years ago people accused Cancellara of having a motor attached to his bike because there was "no way anyone could be that fast." I'm just saying that accusations out of jealousy happen in this sport.
I am not happy that they are going to stripping him of awards that he rightfully earned without any solid evidence that he did anything wrong. I feel bad that he had to deal with this so long.
The more I hear about it, the more sad I feel for him. They're basing this decision on word of mouth accusations, and he passed all of the doping tests. I'm pissed that they stripped him of all his titles and banned him from racing without solid, documented proof (through tests) that he was doing this. In a way, though, I don't blame him for giving up - he's been fighting this for so long, and I'm sure he's tired of all the crap.
I think it was a good PR move on his part.
And yeah -there is no physical evidence. All "he-said-she-said" bs.
DH and I were pretty depressed on Friday about this whole thing.
I want to believe that he's a once in a lifetime genetic freak athlete.

I'm tardy to the party?!
Sucks that your phone sucks.
Huh.
I have always thought he was an epic douchebag. I don't feel bad for him one bit.
I've always thought he was a little bit of a douche (but no more than any other elite athlete), but I generally like him.
I still think the allegations are probably true. I tend to agree with this article from Slate.
