Won't eat solids, only purees.

I keep going back and forth with Dylan regarding solid foods. Some days he'll do amazing with solid food. I could feed him toast, chicken nuggets, pieces of fruit, etc and he'll eat it no problem. This week he's decided he hates solids and will only eat purees. I'm not sure if it's because he has a cold and new teeth coming, but it's frustrating because I feel like we're going backwards :(

  • This happened a lot with Gabe. It is hard. Also, we still give him fruit pure pretty often because he WILL NOT touch fruit.

  • Thanks for the reply. I'm glad I'm not the only one experiencing this problem. It's so frustrating and such a waste of food when he won't eat things I make him. He gets so upset when I try solids and then when he sees applesauce or yoghurt he gets so excited.
I've recently tried yoghurt again and his tummy is starting to except it

  • Lena has done this every single time a new molar comes in. I will think we are finally completely off the purees, and then a new tooth will come and she will refuse the solids again. It is frustrating, but I figure it must be really hard for her to have solid food in there while teething. I just make sure I always have a few purees on hand, and I figure it will pass sooner or later!

I'm hoping it will pass once the teething is over too. I googled it today, and some people have taken their LO's to dieticians. I don't think we're in that extreme case that he needs to see a dietician but it's frustrating. I went to the grocery store and stocked up on purees again.

Our pedi was not concerned at all.  She says purees are great because it let's him keep the taste of fruit since he won't eat it.  That way eventually he'll want to eat fruit when he gets past his texture aversions.  (touching it and putting it in his mouth).

  • Yeah, I haven't talked to my doctor yet. This post was more of a frustrated mini vent then a huge concern. It's just nice to hear others are experiencing similiar issues :
