Found out we are team pink...and my little boy cried :-(

Of course I knew he wanted a brother and my daughter wanted a girl, but I wasn't expecting that level of disapointment! I took them both wih us to the 3D u/s today to find out the gender. When the tech announced the sex, he turned away and started to cry. It broke my heart a little. He is better now, but I am really sad.

  • Awww poor little guy! That's sad but also a little cute.  Maybe he needs to hear about the great things he can expect from have a little sister???

  • Through his tears, he said he wanted to teach a little brother everything that he knows. I tried to remind him that he can still do that. Girls can play soccer and dance and play the wii and all sorts of stuff with him. It was a little heartbreaking because I didn't realize he was so looking forward to having a brother. His sister is the one who has been talking non stop about helping care for the baby. I told him he is going to have a very important job taking care of two sisters now and I know he will come around but I just felt so bad! I am secretly glad as I have a very special bond with him that now will not change in any way. He will always stay my baby boy! :-)

  • You can emphasize for him, too, that this means he gets to be the man of the house and won't have to share his clothes and such. He may come around to enjoying the aspect of how unique it is to be the only boy.

  • oh bless! What a love he is.

I agree with a PP who said to emphaise his important role as big brother to 2 little sisters

and how unique he will be as the only special boy.

I love my little man sooo much, and was hoping for another boy, but thats not to be. Maybe he too will be my one and only?Big Smile

  • Aw!  That's sort of funny and a little sad.  I'm sure he'll love having a little sister one day and find this story hilarious (or embarrassing).

My sister wanted a little brother so badly she refused to believe I'd be a girl and referred to me as Kyle until I was born.  Funny, but true!

  • How precious! Like you said, I'm sure he'll come around. And it'll be a funny story for siblings to share when they get older :)

  • How sweet! My SS was not happy when he found out it there was a good chance that LO is a girl.  I had to remind him that his girl cousin is the one who loves to play with his trains with him while his boy cousin is not interested in his favorite stuff. I think part of his issue was that his mom's bf has a little girl and he constantly gets into trouble every time she cries (he ends up spending all his time at his mom's in his room with his door closed so she cannot come in).

  • Awww...that must have been so hard for you!!  I'm actually fearing this very same thing happening with my SS.  He is 8, and he has mentioned on several occassions how much he wants this baby to be a boy!  This will be his one and only sibling, and I really don't want him to feel disappointed if it's a sister!!   I have had a few conversations with him about how lucky we all are to be having this baby since he was pretty close to becoming an only child for life, and that I know he will love the baby either way.  He has come around a bit but still hopes for a brother!!  We will see what happens in about 3 weeks when we find out....

  • I worry about this with my daughter! She's 6 and at first wasn't even excited about having a sibling! Then she got used to the idea and started becoming excited only to tell me that she only wanted a baby sister!!

We find out tomorrow so we hope she's okay either way!
