Hi Everyone~ I have had fibroid issues and have been seen by my Dr lots the past few weeks. Last night I was in trememndous pain and had to go to the hospital. The Dr had to check my cervix (again) and I am worried that by checking it I will go into preterm labor. The Dr. said she would not feel inside just the outside gently. The nurse also said it wouldn't cause labor, that if I was going to go into pre-term labor it would not be bc of that...... I guess I am asking for alittle extra reassurance. Having a fibroid has been hell and the cramping etc is ridiculous so if I don't need to worry about this then it would be great......
Thanks everyone in advance
Re: Cervical exam question
I have a fibroid. At 19 weeks it was measuring about 6cm across...not sure about the depth. It's given me a bunch of pain, especially when my baby decides he wants to play/beat on it. I've been to doctor a bunch and there is nothing they can or will do about it at the point. It's not hurting the baby and unless it moves over the next few months they aren't worried about it blocking the birth canal or causing any complications. Both my high risk and regular OB say it's fine...I'm high risk for other reasons, not the fibroid.
Cervical exams won't send you into preterm labor...
