I know in many families, including DH's the Godmother buys the outfit. Do you go shopping together, get what you want and she gives you the money or does she pick it out?
I just bought DS's outfit because I really don't like relying on other people and I wanted to get him want I wanted. I'm just wondering what to tell SIL. She probably assumes it, but we haven't officially told her she's the Godmother. They are pretty big on this tradition so I'm sure she would assume she's buying the outfit.

Re: if your Godmother bought LO's outfit

is this for a baptism?
my DH's grandmother bought LO's gown as the first baby present but we had already decided not to do an infant baptism but to wait until LO was older to make her decision. i feel bad, its just sitting in the closet, but oh well.
This exactly.
I was planning on buying the dress for LO, but my sister insisted that she and her husband would pay for the outfit. I didn't assume that she would pay.
For my dd.....her Godmother wanted to buy her outfit, until I told her the one I wanted was 200 bucks. (Which I already told her I would buy it to begin with becuase I knew that is the one I wanted). She ended up sending me a check for half of it. We lived in different states.
For my ds.... his Godmother wanted to buy it... we wanted to get him a quality outfit like my dd. We went to the same company but the boy outfits are cheaper and his was like 79. She also wanted to buy the shoes, socks, bib, and blanket.
We found a specialty baby store in her area (we lived 3 hours away) that could order the one I found online. She gave her credit card on the phone and picked it up when it came into the store. We knew it was good quality since we already delt with the company.
