Why do I have such expensive taste in diaper bags?! I am lusting after this one by Petunia Picklebottom. (Edit: The link is going to the wrong print, I like the Misted Marselle on the bottom row, third from the left) I like it even better than the Boxy which is what I have had my eye on since first tri! And it is a backpack too which would be great when I am using a carrier. But geez, the price tag. I am going to need to get creative with my finances...any ideas? Big Smile

Keep your eye out for a retired pattern? They also sell PPB at Nordstrom and saks! Not that saks has sales but Nordstrom does!!!

ETA: also sign up for their email. I've seen sales!

IN MY DEFENSE (because I can justify anything!!!), my aunt did give me some money for my shower to pick out a diaper bag I liked. I just had to kick in a little extra. And I used a 20% coupon from Buy Buy Baby, so it was $140-ish instead of $180. I kept the tags on because I felt really guilty for a couple of days, but I think I'm going to keep it. I'm going to use it for a long time, and I know it will hold up well.

They have outlet sales twice a year. You can sign up on their website and they'll notify you when they are. I got a "certified seconds" backpack for half price and I still haven't found its flaw.

You can buy it online. Nordstrom has a different print on sale. The best sales for these are usually at Nordstrom, I've noticed. If you wait for another big sale, they usually will put other patterns on too.

I feel your pain... I have been drooling over the Kate Spade Serena and Stevie bags, which are easily $200+, and totally not in my budget. A mom-to-be can dream, right??

Can you register for it? Ask for it as a "push present"? Stop buying coffee/tea at work every day? I dunno...personally, I'd splurge. You need to remind yourself that you're the mama and you're worth it! But I'm not you, and don't know your finances. I hope you manage to figure out a way to get it!

If you want to save on one, your best bet is probably to add it to an Amazon registry (you can make a private one if you want) and set a price tracker on it using a site like CamelCamelCamel so you'll get a text when it gets to a price you want to pay. Then use your 10% off completion code.

That's how we saved $150 on our double stroller.

Also check Nordstrom Rack if you can? Did you already google for deals online? Cut back on extra expenses and save any random monetary gifts you receive over the next few weeks, that's what I'm doing for the camera I want! I also had a birthday in there so that really helped. I think it's ok to splurge for an item you really want now and then (if it's within reason) especially special occasions :-) There's a Marc by Marc Jacobs diaper bag I LOVE, but it costs more than my stroller/car seat, and my splurge is going to be my camera.

The PPs gave good ideas on how to find discounts. I know the feeling of wanting a specific diaper bag. At one point, I had like 8 of them. I still have my 3 faces, but I have been eyeing a few new styles that have popped up. Just not really sure I actually NEED another diaper bag! LOL!

This exactly! Also, I started out with the sashay satchel that you like now and HAD to get the boxy backpack! I LOVE love love that the backpack has a portable changing pad attached, it has been useful so many times already! I love the bag and highly recommend it!

I've loved my waxy boxy PPB that I got on sale at Nordstrom before I had DD. Worth every penny....even more now with two kids because I love the backpack style and ability to be hands free. I was lusting after a PPB bag that was way out of my budget when I found a LIKE NEW Kate Spade Diaper bag for $5 at a garage sale... I almost hyperventilated and went into labor right there! Even better, there was $2.75 in quarters in the bottom that I didn't see until I got home so it really cost us $2.25!!!! Find of the MILLENNIUM!!!

my sister (who rocks majorly hardcore) found a PPB bag more than half off at a boutique in an upscale part of the Bay Are in Cali (Tiburon). It was last years design and the rich mommies there just CAN'T have a bag from last season (just a little sarcasm there). I would check upscale boutiques, they may not be the exact pattern you want, but they do tend to discount last years styles pretty heavily.

I totally splurged on a diaper bag! I rationalized it by thinking that I will carry it instead of a purse for a while, so I won't be buying a new handbag for the fall/winter. And of all the things we're getting for the baby, this one is partly for me too, so I should love it. Plus we are being really frugal about other things. Oh and also I totally deserve it.
