Pre-School and Daycare

daycare discipline plan?

I'm curious if your daycare/preschool has a discipline plan that it makes public to parents.  Does your daycare do time out?  Is there a warning board etc?  I just want to know what is normal.

Re: daycare discipline plan?

  • Where I live, FL, it is the law that preschool disclose their discipline policy.  This is usually done on a sheet of paper that lists what meals daycare is responsible for and which parents will feed and then it states discipline policy.  Parents must sign and return it.  At my DS's daycare it is basically time out.

  • I believe our daycare handbook always went over how they handle discipline. They are not allowed to do "time out", but they can remove a child who's misbehaving from an area for a break. Most of what they're allowed to do is redirection in the younger rooms. I'm not sure what happens as they get older since DD1 was always a perfect angel at daycare. (Home was always a different story.)
