Who isn't turning it up to 11 for lo's birthday party?
No flames, but I really feel like I'm in the minority when I see posts where people are scheduling photo sessions and lining up outfits already.
Don't get me wrong we are having a party and there is a loose theme, but other than that... I don't know. Anyone else feel me on this one?
July 20th, 2012: Never forget the day the fb douchebags tried so hard, but ultimately failed. Viva la October 2011! Yeah, I called you douchebags.

Re: Code anti Buttercream... Tell me I'm not the only one
We are going to make it fun for the other 9 or so kids coming, as well as our kids but that's really our only goal. To have fun! We aren't going all out on anything else... Just fun!
Yeah, we're keeping it pretty casual. Probably just hot dogs on the grill and some cake. We're just having it at our house with the families. I was going to order some cute photo invitations, but we can't pick a date yet b/c of MH's work schedule, so I will probably just do the old-fashioned hand-written ones!
i always feel you HA.
We don't really do big first bdays in Germany, and with a newborn I don't think I wanna broaden my horizon just now.
I feel you. I'm not motivated at all. We are doing a small party (about 12 people or so), so maybe that's why. I'm having it at my house, and we're having some mini pumpkin decorating for the older kids and having a casual lunch, but that's about it. Nothing big or fancy. I didn't even pick out her outfit, my mom saw something she loved and bought it, so I'm all set there. I feel bad, because I went all out for my DS' 1st bday (at a venue with 50+ people), but I seriously have no energy this time around.
If it makes you feel better we both have big families and then my brother has a couple friends who are basically like my sibilings and they all live local. If we just had our immediate families and MHs grandmother it would be almost 20 people.
I'll admit though, I'm going way too overboard but I enjoy themed things too much!
I think you should come to NJ for V's birthday!
I just realized that I can have booze for his birthday. Maybe that party just got a tiny bit more exciting!

OCT 2011 Moms BlogOur invites went out last week, but the party is Sept 8th. We are combining my DD's 2nd birthday party (born 8/6) and my DS's 1st birthday (born 9/28). I love themes so I can't say this is the only reason, but my 2 yr old will absolutely go nuts when she sees all the Sesame Street decorations and things at their party. Plus they have their little friends from storytime that are coming and all the kids will love seeing these decorations.
I make my own cupcakes, the party will be a BBQ, and alcohol will definitely be involved! Other than the decorations/activities our party will definitely be low-key. It will cost me maybe $150 for everything (including food) for 2 kids' birthdays.
I know! You could come to Li's birthday... I'll e-vite you.
When I see some of the ideas some people have for a first birthday, I'm like holy sh!t, they are turning one! So I feel ya, HA.
Since we are on a tight budget, we are going to the park and having cake and ice cream. An organization called Icing Smiles is making a cake for us for free, so we don't have to worry about that. I will throw together some Mickey Mouse shaped Quesadillas and have some baby snacks and that is about it. The only reason we have people to invite is because we are part of the Mommy Group here in town. If I wasn't it would probably just be D, me, DH, ILs, and some of our close friends that have little ones.

BLOG :] & Shaping Up
Nothing planned here really.
No one to invite either and fam are all back in the UK. Mil and her boy are flying over the week before so wont actually be here for his birthday.
We have a few little prezzies in mind and Im sure DS will love an ice cream cake.
But it will be just the 3 of us.
yes and no.
We are doing a photo shoot for his birthday, but I'm thinking it's going to also serve as Christmas portraits. We have only done NB photos so far.
We're having a neighborhood block party next weekend and have invited F+F so I'm going to have a smash cake & cake for our guests there and we'll do the whole happy birthday thing. But we're not having a separate party for him. We're going to Maui as a family instead
It'll be the grandparents, his aunt and uncle plus their new baby due next month... Then possible 23 sets of our closest friends I'll invite them but honestly don't mind if they can't make it.
I am making allergy safe cupcakes. Besides that we will probably have some snacks and something easy like burgers. I thought about a theme but LO is too young to really care. Maybe I will wait til next year when he has some fave characters or things to base a theme off of.
We are having a big party becuase I love throwing big parties. It is my "thing."
No, no, I totally want to see all the birthday party pictures!
The only things we are doong "theme" related are her outfit, cake, and invites. We are keeping everything else casual. Roast Beef Sammies, Meatballs, Pasta Salad, maybe a Chick-Fil-A nugget platter (and no, I'm not anti-gay marriage, I just happen to also support free speech. And I really like CFA Nuggets.)
No photo session, no smash cake, no favors. (My BFF gives people GIFTS for coming to her kids party. What?!?!)
ETA: Oh, and we are inviting a ton of people. Only because I like my friends and family and like to get everyone together. It's an excuse to see everyone.
