2nd Trimester

Counting down to 3rd Trimester

The first trimester flew by for me, but the second trimester has been at a snails pace and I have no energy...   Sleep    Maybe, I am one of those individuals that has a great first trimester, terrible second, and a decent third?   I understand that everyone's pregnancy is different but I am curious how everyone's experience has been for the 1st and 2nd trimester so far..

  • My first trimester.. ugh. The first month I was soo fatigued, it wasn't funny. The middle of my second month my morning sickness kicked into full gear. It was awful.

My third month was pretty much the same, but it did go by really fast regardless. Of course, the entire first month I didn't even know I was pregnant yet, I thought I was, but I hadn't taken a test. The Second month I found out but thought I was only 1 month by the middle of june. When I went in the NP told me I was 12 weeks! eek!

month 4 was okay. And things have gotten better this month, but I'm still waiting for the glow and energy people get -.-

6 months isn't so far now but, I'm impatient, I want my energy boost! lol

  • I had a lousy 1st tri, and am having an ok 2nd.  I am very tired too, but I have a toddler with an endless amount of energy.  There's NEVER time to just rest, besides when he is in bed for the night.  Thank God he sleeps through the night most nights or I'd be doomed!!

  • Hi, DueDate Buddy!

This is my 3rd pregnancy, and I'm familiar enough with my cycle, that I found out I was pregnant at 4.5 weeks. With DS and DD1, I waited a full week before taking a test, and I was too impatient to wait this time so my 1st Tri. was soooooo sloooooow because I found out comparitatively "early" to others who didn't find out until 6, 7, or 8 weeks... that's about one whole month!

My only real 1st Tri. "symptom" is a missed period, so that was great!
During the 2nd Tri., I get ill if I don't eat enough... which is frustrating because I'm not "hungry" or, rather, I'm no hungrier than normal to tell me I need to eat... but as this is my 3rd, I know how to handle it even if I don't feel hungry, I don't go long between meals or proteinpacked snacks... if I feel hungry, it's usually too late.

I can't believe 3rd Tri. is almost here! It seems to have gone quickly, but at the same time, I think the next 3 months are going to go slow. We need to move to a bigger house, so while DS and DD1 currently share a room, I can't start unpacking my girl 03 month things for this DD until we move, and I don't exactly have anything else to do, no shower/registry, no parenting classes to take, very little has to be bought... Next on my list is packing my hospital bag, but my husband thinks I'm crazy to get it ready so early. And as my maternity wardrobe is more limited than my nonmaternity wardrobe, I don't want to take even one outfit away, and I usually pack 1 bottom and 3 tops, among other things that can't be packed until later like my camera, and laptop, and such.

Also, as with DS and DD1, they were each born on the day after their respective due dates hours after, early in the morning so I'm planning on being "on time" as far as when I'm expecting labor to start... unless something happens. I have an unlrasound in 2 weeks to make sure my placenta moved up, because at 20 weeks it looked low, so if I'm one of the 15 percent of ladies whose placenta doesn't move up, I may need a CSection...?

Yikes for the long post! I guess I'm just excited and don't have many other people to talk about it with! Thanks to all for "listening"!
  • My first tri was awful - horrible m/s and dizziness.  My second tri hasn't been any better.  Low bp and blood sugar, dizziness, etc.  I'm hoping the third will be better but I'm honestly not very optimistic after 6 months of feeling pretty sick.  It's crazy because my pregnancy with DD was great - hardly any symptoms and lots of energy.  It really is true that each pregnancy is unique!

  • First trimester was the WORST!  I was sick all day everyday, was always tired no matter what I did and was just all out miserable.  I feel like a new person now!  Loving second trimester.  I could be 5 months pregnant forever.

  • The first tri was hardest for me. I was so tired all the time and had trouble with morning sickness and having to eat every couple hours. Second tri has been a breeze! I've felt so much better, got more exercise, and have been able to eat like normal again. Only thing I'm not enjoying right now is trouble sleeping at night.

  • Thanks for share ladies on your personal journeys..

Think I'm just dragging because I never got the energy boost everyone talks about and I have had terrible cramps, and back pain. I started going to a chiropractor to help but it's to early to tell if I am benefiting from it yet. Although my sleep has improved over the last couple of days. Hope these next three months I remember to reflect on this quote. Thought I would share:

"If I had my life to live over, instead of wishing away nine months of pregnancy, I'd have cherished ever moment and realized that the wonderment growing inside me was the only chance in life to assist God in a miracle." - Erma Bombeck

Best of luck to you all ~

  • I had a pretty awesome first trimester. i didn't have any morning sickness i was just tired all the time. my second trimester has been pretty good although I am so big already (I look 8 months pregnant) that i'm having more back issues and stomach soreness from stretching so it's starting to get worse much fast. i'm thinking that my third trimester is going to creep by and its going to be rough.
