I really love the name Cora, but DH much prefers Coral. I'm not sure how I feel about it, but he won't budge on Cora (he prefers other names to Cora, but if I agree to Coral he would put Coral above the other names we are thinking about).
We like to be different, and frankly I'm not thrilled with how popular Cora apparently seems to be, so I like the idea of using something a little different, but I'm curious as to what other people think when they hear Coral as a girls name.

I like Coral. Cora is pretty too but I see it everywhere (on here, on NB, etc.) so I'm kind of tired of it. It sounds nice with your DD's name too. My DD's name ends with the -a sound and I don't want another name that ends the same b/c it ends up sounding so rhymey.
I think of Florida, old ladies playing bingo, etc. It's a GREAT old lady name. It would be refreshing on a child (helps that it's a color). Better than Scarlett, Violet, etc.

Thanks for all of the feedback so far! I appreciate your thoughts and agree with many of them! I think of the girl on the real world, who was pretty trashy, but that doesn't affect anything since our kids certainly won't know who she is. I initially think of coral reef, but thats fine. (Our boy name is a nature word anyway). And once baby is born (if it's is a girl), people in our lives will think of her when they hear the word Coral... no one will be thinking of coral reef. I love color names as well, and find it to be a refreshing change from Violet, etc.
I do like that Cora sounds similar to Lilah (DD) and I like that both are one-letter off from being a color (coral and lilac), but none of this is really all that important in my decision. It does, however, change the middle name I was hoping to use with Cora (Lynee')- my middle name. I don't like back-to-back Ls (Coral Lynee') so if anyone has any middle name suggestions for coral I would appreciate it. : )

I actually like Coral, but it does remind me of the girl from the Real World too lol.
I like color names on girls and nature names, Coral fits both of those! I actually like Coral better than Cora. I really like Coraline too.
I love Coral and prefer it to Cora. By a lot.
If you don't love it, though, I think you should both keep looking until you find the right fit.
I can't get the ticker to work, but I have two sons:

I like Coral, but prefer Coralie and Coralia (two names I know this board has cringed at in the past, but I still really like them).
I like Coral. I'm a fan of almost all the color names- Scarlett, Violet, Hazel- I draw the line at Blue. I actually prefer Coral over Cora.
ETA- I also like Coral over Cora with your dd's name Lilah. Cora and Lilah seem to matchy with the -a sound at the end of both. I like Coral and Lilah better as a sibset.
I definitely prefer Cora, but then again, that was in our top 2 names before we found out this baby is a boy, so I am probably biased. What about something like Clara or Claire?
I know a lot of people think Cora is popular, but the only place it seems popular to me is on this board. I don't know any Cora's IRL.
That said, Coral is certainly not a bad name, if you both really like it. It's just NMS personally.
