Personally, I say good for him wanting to give the best possible for his child. Unconventional? Absolutely, but we are in an ever changing world.

I totally get this perspective, and on some level, I do agree. I think his breastfeeding experience is valid and would probably be helpful to other people who want to breastfeed but do not have a lot of tissue. However, he himself defines himself as a man and father, not as a mother, and LLL says that a leader needs to have experience "mothering" through breastfeeding. I see people argue on here all the time that gender is how you identify, not what you have between your legs. So it would seem that if he identifies strongly as a father, he might not be the best choice to lead a group where women who identify as mothers discuss issues related to mothering (not just necessarily the mechanics of how to breastfeed.)
