I was browsing the FFFC and thought some of you ladies may want to post "repeat" questions. Things we've already discussed but you either weren't paying attention at the time or forgot or whatever.
I figured if we had one post - you could post here & we could answer as needed. Plus it's slow right now so why not?
I saw a few of you had hospital bag questions!

I have one! I'm sure it's been asked before, and of course I know that no one on here is a doctor, but I also don't want to bother my doctor/nurses needlessly.
How much swelling & water retention would it take for you to call?
Since my last appt., a week ago, I am up nearly 6 pounds (as of this am). I eat pretty well, and walk 2 miles every day. Also, my hands ballooned up like crazy yesterday. They had gone down a bit by the afternoon, but they are horrible again this morning, I can't even make a fist.
I haven't had high BP at any of my appointments, and my vision is okay, just a dull headache.
So basically it could be totally normal pregnancy stuff, or not. I'm torn.
I'm just bringing one - the MAM silicone pacifier. We have either the MAM or NUK brand pacifier. DS liked them so I'm assuming DS #2 will as well.
Ooooo I have one. I need to get a new breast pump (my first one broke) and I'm not sure if I want another electric one or not.
Has anyone used a manual hand pump? How well do they work compared to an electric pump?
I'd take into consideration the temp outside and how much water you've been drinking along with how much sodium you've been eating.
But, I'd call the doctors office and let them know, see if they're concerned enough to bring you in or just wait to see you at your next appointment. At the very least, they'd note it on your file to discuss with you at the appointment.
Thanks. I think I'll call the nurse and leave a message. I don't think it warrants an emergency page anything. I have been drinking water like crazy, but we've also been eating out a lot, so I'm sure I'm getting a lot more sodium than I usually would.
Great thread, Manx
No question though

Are you watching your posture? I've noticed my back hurts more when I slump forward. When I notice it hurting I adjust so that my back is resting against the back of my computer chair. I try to sit up straight so there isn't so much strain.
Plus, I have always carried stress in my shoulders so if work is stressing me out - that's one of the first places I can feel it.
Call if it will make you feel better. For me, I swelled like crazy with DS and my doctor wasn't worried at all because I had no other signs of pre e so I wouldn't call for just swelling. Take some Tylenol now and call in an hour or so to give it time to work. That way you can tell them if the headache went away or not.
DS used the hospital Soothie and we played around with what worked best after we got home. He never had a problem taking any of them (except the Wubbanub, he never liked) but I found some stayed in his mouth better.
Does your office have eurgonomic chairs? Last time when I worked in the office, we had a few eurgo chairs that got passed around by the pregnant chicks. It really helped. Or bring a small pillow for the small of your back. Get up and walk around about once an hour.
Call the doctor. That's pretty bad swelling and when you add in the headache, it doesn't sound better. Get checked. GL!
I never had a bottle warmer. In the beginning to heat up bm or formula, I just heated up water in a mug and put the bottle in it. Now, I will use our Keurig. Our daycare used a crockpot. If you are using powder ormula, I would suggest getting baby used to room temp bottles since that is the easiest. The formula that worked best for DS only came in Ready To Feed so it had to be refrigerated. Also, if you are pumping, the bottles have to be kept cold. Around 6mo, I transitioned DS into drinking straight from the fridge. He didn't have any problems with it.
I am bringing one soothie and one dr browns prevent. I have a couple others at home but i'm not planning on bringing them all to the hospital. I chose those two because they are totally different in shape so it will give me an idea of what kind he likes if any.
