? for those with high-needs babies

My DD is very much a high-needs gal and wants to be carried or have face-to-face crazy entertainment constantly.  As soon as you try to set her down, she starts fussing or crying but will typically stop if you sing, make faces, move her limbs, and generally act like a wild person.  She gets bored so easily!  I enjoy wearing her when she will tolerate it, but I?m curious? What do parents of high-needs babies do when it's not possible or safe to wear your baby such as when chopping food, handling hot pans, or riding in the car?  How do you keep your LO entertained?

    the swing is the only place where DS is happy sometimes on his floor mat

    Carry her on your back (3 months and she may be old enough, depending on what carrier you use) and you can chop food and cook no problem!

     One of the toughest things I had to learn is that my DS wasn't always going to be happy.  Sometimes he would have to fuss for a minute, and he would be ok. In my opinion, entertaining them every waking moment is setting them up for some difficulties later.  That won't be realistic as they get older and are in more group settings.

    My second and third were/are both high needs.  I would do a back carry also as soon as you are able to do so comfortably.  Otherwise, have her bouncer or whatever as close as it is safe so that you can have her near enough to see you and hear you while you're doing dangerous things, but far enough that she is safe.  In the car...well, car rides just suck!  I hate that.  After 4 kids who hate car rides, I still don't have any good suggestions for that one.  The only thing that is mildly successful for us when they're babies to is to try to nurse them down before we go anywhere, and then when we get to the our destination, put them in the carrier so they're awakened a bit, and then nurse them again so they go back to sleep for the ride back.

    Swing or back carry when cooking and the toybar has been my saviour in the car. Best purchase I've made yet! Tiny love has a bunch and they hook onto the stroller or pnp as well.

    How old is LO? My 6 mo old hn LO doesn't let me set him down long enough to cook but I get a few minutes out of Jumperoo. If you want to be part of hn support mommies group my becky kallen on facebook. It has really helped me!
