TTC after 35

WTH chart?!?

So my RE took b/w that "proved" I didn't ovulate this cycle.

Soooooo why am I STILL having a triphasic chart this month?!? Seriously?!? I have triphasic charts no matter if I'm pregnant, not pregnant, or nonovulatory.

Whose body does this?!?!?

Re: WTH chart?!?

  • Ummm....yeah - not sure what to tell you about that one.  My body on the other hand never seems to do the same thing twice so I never know what to expect.  Guess we are at both ends of the spectrum and equally as frustrated.
Me 39 & suspected PCOS, DH 42. Went off BCP when we got married in 11/11, seriously TTC since 3/12.  Six cycles of clomid = BFNs.  Suspected endometriosis & HSG showed both tubes blocked.  Sept 2013 IVF 5D transfer of two perfect embryos = BFN.  Started acupuncture and taking time off to drop some pounds & get healthier before FET in April 2014.

  • Robbensm, your chart looks fantastic. I've been watching it and suspecting it would go triphasic and it has! At just the right time to indicate implantation!

Not to get your hopes up, but I hope you test soon...

  • That's why I had to stop temping!  My charts always looked SO good I got my hopes up and then it was like a crushing blow.

I hate it when we have super special annoying skills like being able to fool our temp charts....

Me: 40 Dh: 41, TTC since August 2009, began Acupuncture and Herbs Sept 2011, began Temping and Charting Nov 2011. image

I would have put money on it that this morning it would go down because I've been all crampy like I'm going to start any minute now so when I saw the temp this morning I went back and looked at it three time to make sure I read it correctly.  I did test but it was nothing but white.  My BBs are still killing me which isn't all that unusual for just before AF but this morning I can smell everything so strongly and most of it has been turning my stomach.  Been trying not to get my hopes up but it's getting harder not to.

  • The soonest you can expect to see a + HPT is 2 days after implantation, so 2 days after your triphasic shift. So your negative today is no surprise.

@ Llama: I can't NOT temp. I feel like I need to have those pieces of the puzzle, even if they throw me off. This experience this month, though, makes me wonder if I was not really ovulating every one of those other months-- what if I was having prematurely collapsing follicles more often than not??

*sigh* Right now, I'm just hoping AF arrives on time. Although, I can't help but think that maybe I ovulated late?

Think you should ask your doc about this for sure.  Were you doing the BD marathon just in case you did have late O?

  • If I ask my RE, then I think that makes me an official patient, which then means I have to pay some consultation fee or something of $400.

If this is the case, I'll know next month... I am trying to decide if I need to have my cycle monitored again to see if I'm actually ovulating or just having follicles collapse. I dunno what to think at this point...

MH and I have been BDing, but not every day. I think that if I *did* ovulate late, based on my temps, I think we timed our BD well...

  • Stupid medical billing and insurance red tape!  Can you ask your regular OBGY if this is something worth pursuing?  Well here's hoping that the BD timing works out for both of us this cycle.

I remember you saying something about that $400 previously.  That is so crazy!  I've never heard of a doctor that works on a retainer.  If you are already seeing him/her, you should be able to call the office and ask a question.

I think my RE's RN said it, so I have no idea if she's right because she's a new Fertility consultant and the other/old one is on vacation.

They've been doing my testing but not actually treating me, so maybe she meant that if I get treated, then I have to pay? I'm not sure, so I called them today and asked for a payment/fee listing for their services. I'm hoping that clears things up.

Owl I have to go back to my charts from my old RE to double check but I think I had for to pay for my phone consult to her. I find that ridiculous.

  • I feel your pain! I charted the past two cycles (taking a break this month)  if you look at my chart it looks like I ovulated and I even get crosshairs, EXCM and positive OPKs.  But my doctor did progesterone bloodwork on 7dpo and it only came back 5! My doctor looked at my chart but said I didn't really ovulate. She said my body might have tried to but didn't.  I just don't get it.  I did not get a triphasic chart like yours but you can clearly see a temp shift.   So frustrating!

  • They did some b/w and an US that showed a collapsed follicle and a bunch of small follicles (too small to be close to ovulation) on the morning after my first +OPK. Then the next day, they did followup b/w and my levels was nowhere near 200, so no ovulation.

I'm wondering, however, if I may have just ovulated a day or two ago-- huge spike in my temp.
