if your baby has a lovey

About 3 months ago, DD started to have trouble falling asleep (she was still being swaddled and sleeping on her back), so I put a blanket under her head. That seemed to work really well and she starting sleeping better. Fast forward to last week when I stopped swaddling and starting putting her to sleep on her tummy. The first couple nights were ok, but it's been a challenge recently. It's been taking over an hour to get her to sleep and she's waking more at night.

So tonight I put her on her tummy and pulled her blankie up over her shoulders so it was against her cheek. I also snuggled her arms in so she was kind of swaddled but on her tummy. I'm a little nervous about the blanket getting too close to her face so I've been back there checking on her pretty reguarly. For those of you with a lovey or blankie, does your LO sleep with it? Are you concered about it getting too close to their face? Should I just chill out and hope this makes her sleep better??

I'm pretty comfortable with it. DD sleeps with a thin knit blanket for naps because she is usually in a onesie or romper with a lot of exposed skin. When she wakes it is usually at the other end of the crib in a ball. She has a her Seahorse and standard bumpers in the crib and at this age I'm not all that concerned. Just by habit/OCD:) I check on the girls about 2-3 times a night (shortly after they fall asleep, before I go to bed and often once in the night).

I put her down on her back and then place it next to her. She usually rolls over onto her tummy with it under one arm or under her head.

DD sleeps with a blanket every night/nap time. She covers her face with it, almost completely. I worried about it the first few times, but she sleeps so much better when I let her do her own thing.

If you're worried, keep checking on her, but I bet she'll be just fine!

Actually, by this point LO has all sorts of stuff. Her twilight turtle that she can turn on if she wants, her blanket, a pillow pal because I've found she sleeps better propped up. Her pedi even suggested I leave her cup of water so she can get a drink if she wakes up so that maybe she won't cry for me if she's just thirsty.

Dd has slept with a lovey over her face since 2 months. She pulled it off when she was younger when she wanted to but now sleeps with one on her face and one cuddled in her arms and a corner in her mouth to chew on. She loves them!

DS is a tummy sleeper and I walked in him last night and he had completely turned the opposite way and was laying on the blanket. I did move his face off of it but he has never slept face down so I guess I'm not too worried.

DS starts off swaddled with his minky monkey (small lovey with a monkey head attached) and his Little Giraffe blanket next to his cheeks. After about 45 minutes of sleep he unswaddles himself and snuggles up with his items. He sleeps WAY better with them then without them. He also loves to have his monkey over his face. I remove it when he's a sleep but it always ends up right back there so I am not too concerned. DH also sleeps with a pillow over the top part of his head and eyes....I figure maybe he's just hardwired to be just like DH.

DS's true lovey is a second pacifier. He has to have one in the mouth and one in the hand. But, he has a plastic ball, a rubber bath letter, and a little stuffed toy in the crib for him to play with when he wakes up.

DD has slept with a lovey since about 4 months. I was nervous at first, so I chose one that's small so she can't suffocate herself. However, at this point I wouldn't worry at all- she'll move her head if she can't breathe!

What cup have you used? I have bought 3 different ones and they ALL leak! DD didn't get the standard sippy cups but loves the straw type. We used the Nuk and the Tommy Teepee and both have leaked.

We have the playtex lil gripper straw cups. If they have a lot of water in them they leak a little through the straw, but not out the lid.

My DD has been sleeping with a blanket for a while. Honestly, I wouldn't put her to bed without one now... she NEEDS it. There have been many times I've found her with the blanket over her head or in her face. I don't worry too much about it. I've moved it, but it always ends up back there. At 9 months your little one can move their head and roll over, sit up, etc, so there isn't a reason to really worry.

If you are still really concerned you could check out the Aden and Anais Issie security blanket, they are breathable muslin. That is what we use and we love them.

my son has been sleeping with a blanket since the beginning. maybe that has something to do with me not knowing how to swaddle properly... or maybe because even when dh would do it, ds would still wiggle free. that being said, I'd also like to point out ds has to have his eyes and head covered... which is how my dh sleeps I'm not worried, if ds wants it off, he'll take it off himself.
