I know many of you have always put stuff in your baby's crib but for those who held off, when do you intend to add a pillow and blanket to the mix? I'm in Texas in August so clearly it isn't an issue right now, but I am thinking towards the future. I heard it is better for your posture to not use a pillow so I don't feel a rush to add one. I do think about a blanket, though, because it snows on occasion here.
Re: Pillow and Blankets?
DD's room tends to be a few degrees colder than ours, so we have been putting a lightweight cotton receiving blanket over her since she was about 7 or 8 months old. Sometimes she kicks it off, sometimes she doesn't...but it seems to comfort her when she lays down and we drape it over her legs and body.
I'm not sure about pillows. She has a new fascination with them, and whenever she gets tired, she takes the pillows off the couch and arranges them into little sleeping areas on the floor and lays down on them. DH was suggesting getting her own pillow, but I don't think it's necessary just yet. She is sleeping fine without one, so we will probably wait until she's a little older.
We rarely need blankets here. If I'm worried DS will get cool, I put a blanket over his legs, but he usually kicks it off. I've left it in the crib with him for about four months (hoping he would make it his lovey), but he could care less about it.
I don't think we'll give him a pillow until we move him to a regular bed. He seems to be fine without one.
