I feel like all I ever do is post frustrations/questions about sleep. Everyone says it will get better- when? LO has not slept more than two hours, ever, not at night or during the day. We have done everything, swaddled, white noise, feeding before bed, rocking, pacifier, and have a bedtime routine. It doesn't matter what time she's put down, she will wake up within two hours or even an hour and a half. Sometimes it's to feed sometimes it's just because. I know I'm making enough milk because I can pump more than 5 ounces and she has the right number of diapers. She is above her birth weight. It can't be a matter of not getting enough to eat! When will it get better? It doesn't help that DH has been working night shifts (he's in his last year of medical school) and I have to wake up every single time on my own. I do my best to sleep whenever she sleeps during the day. I feel like I've done everything there is to be done...I'm just so tired of being tired and had to vent to someone!
Re: So tired of being tired
Try getting some sleep during the day if you can. Also, could you hubby maybe sit Ruth her a bit while you go to sleep for a couple hours early in the evening?
I find it helps uo do some activities that keep my little one up a few hours before bedtime, Ie. a bath, tummy time . Try to have her relaxed before bed- after her feeding, hold her for a while a, don't talk and keep the lights dim.
Have you tried a swing or bouncy seat or rock & play? Our LO would only sleep 2 to 3 hours at night, then wake up and sleep for an hour or 1.5 hours at a time after that. We got the rock & play 3 nights ago and she's slept for 4.5 hours for her first stretch, then 2 -3 hours at a time after that.
THIS!!! I just started this and it has done wonders for me!!!!
Yes, we have the rock & play which helped the first few nights with her sleeping 2 hours. That's as long as she has slept anywhere- she hates her bouncer. We've also put her in the car seat which she has also slept 2 hours in.
We have the HALO swaddlers. Is that pretty similar?
I just started doing this for LOs first morning meal too, and it's great!
OP, you're LO is still really young. The first 3 months are usually the most rough, but you and LO will survive. It does get better!
Do you have a sling or wrap to wear LO? These are fabulous b/c LOs like to be held close to mom, kept warm, bounced and moved around, etc, and all that happens in a wrap. Babies often sleep well in them. It would also free you up to get stuff done while keeping LO content and with you.
