Re: My hips and pelvis...

  • :(  I remember those days.  Warm bath was the only thing that helped.

  • I sleep so uncomfy now.  I toss and turn all night long :(.  So far I have been able to prop myself on pillow where I am lying at a 45 degree angle to try and help.

  • I spent a lot of weeks on bed rest and by the time I delivered my hips were so bad I could barely walk.  I would wake up with searing pain in my hips every 15 minutes or so at night.  I wish I had some amazing advice, but the only thing that even helped a little bit was ice or a heating pad...whichever worked on any given day.  It was really bad.

Definitely trying this tonight ! Baby A's head is snug near my cervix too, and he's just putting soo much pressure down there. I am trying to coax him upwards with music right now lol.

I've been on bed rest for a week and a half, and it's already taking its toll on my body. The heating pad usually helps, but then I get too hot and have t take it off. Very frustrating.

Into the bath I go then. Followed by ladynikon's 45 degree angle advice.

    Thanks ladies!

I was on bed rest for 10 weeks and by the end I was insane from the pain.  I asked for an induction at 37 weeks and my doctor agreed because I was in so much pain.  I found generally that the ice helped more than the heat, but that was just me. The best thing I can tell you (and I used to hate it when people said it at the time) is that it's so amazingly worth it.  Just take one day at a time.  1 hour or one minute at a time if you need to. How far along are you?

  • OMG, i am right there with you. I am only 21 weeks. I have no idea how I will survive the next 17. (Holy crap! I have less than 17 weeks left!)

During the day, I try to say off my feet as much as I can. I am now working from my recliner to keep as much pressure off my pelvis as I can. But i have an old tailbone injury that is killing me.

I have also been known to sit and/or sleep with an ice pack between my legs. I'm not above trying ANYTHING that will help. And sometimes...icing my hoo-haa helps!

The best sleep I got was last week in a hotel. I had 6 of those squishy pillows all around me, under my belly, between my legs. I was all kinds of snuggled in there, but it was fantastic. I cannot seem to duplicate it at home though.

I am going to try the ice too. One day at a time is how I've been getting through everything because even a bad day is over before I know it. :) I'm 25w3d. Expecting to be on bed rest for the remainder of my pregnancy because I'm already 1cm dilated, unable to take procardia or terbutaline, and my contractions are significantly worse when I'm moving around. Ay yi yi.

Oh gosh, I feel you on the old injury. I have a back injury from 11 years ago, which already gave me daily pain pre-pg, but now that I have 28 extra lbs on me plus terribly uncomfortable sleeping positions every night...FORGET IT.

If it makes you feel any better, I had trouble sleeping at 21 weeks, then it got much better for about 8 weeks....then it got bad again.  But I did have some relief fora bit.

  • I remember that pain :(  I just spend a lot of time in bed or on the couch.  I could barely walk by 36w.  So many people suggested swimming.  I never got a chance, but it sounds like it would be heavenly.  I hope you get some relief!

  • I'm almost 33 weeks and I was crying at my OBs office today because I'm in so much pain.. I really can't walk. Sleeping is super painful, I just hit such a wall which freaks me out if it gets worse which it seems like it only can.. how will I get to all the appointments etc if I can't walk/drive etc??? Most of the time I'm up and walking all I want is a freakin wheelchair!
