TTC after 35

TTC and adenomyosis - anybody?

We're in the midst of TTC our second child. Up until today, I thought my age was the only thing working against conceiving (I'm almost 40). I recently had some tests done of my pelvic region due to a suspected hip stress fracture from running. The MRI showed thickening of the uterus suggestive of adenomyosis. Do any of you have experience with adenomyosis? If so, could you please share your experiences with me? I haven't been able to touch base with my OB yet (she's not in the office today) and I'm really worried about this. I've always had awful periods as long as I can remember. These findings were completely by accident, but validate some things I've noticed recently. I've done some quick googling (God help me) and it seems like this is associated with negative things as it relates to fertility and carrying a baby to term. Thanks in advance for any input people have. I'm really scared about this.

  • My mom and sister both had it and had no trouble with getting prego. Really depends on where and how bad you have it but you prob had it all this time and still got pregnant. Don't stress to much over it. GL.

  • Thanks - I spoke to my midwife today who said that what she read on my MRI was "no big deal" and that it wouldn't effect my fertility or my ability to carry a baby to term. She thinks I probably had it with my first child. However, I keep reading all this crap online with horror stories. I should just stop doing that!
  • When it comes to medical stuff Google is generally the devil.  Unless you want to look up symptoms of strep throat or symptoms of Hand Foot and Mouth (if you haven't had that joy with your child yet, just wait!) it's usually best to steer clear of Google!

Oh, and just so you know, I'm very much guilty of consulting Dr. Google for everything.  DH keeps threatening to block my google access.  (Not sure if that's possible, but he has no clue about computers anyway so it's an empty threat!)
