How much do you pay your full time nanny?

Hi ladies,

I will be returning to work 6-8weeks after DD is born, so DH and I are looking into childcare options. The only 2 daycare centers in our neighborhood that accept infants cost up to $2900/month for full time care. It is so expensive I was wondering how much would a full time nanny or nanny-share cost in comparison? So how much do you pay your nanny? Do you pay them by the hour or by the month? Do you provide any other benefits, such as healthcare, transportation, etc? Thanks.

  • Did you mean $290/week? if you found full time infant care for $290/month, secure that spot (and share the good news)!

  • Hi there! I work at a local nanny agency and the typical rates that we see for a live out nany are from $15-20/hr (depending on number of children, responsibilities, etc).  If you were to do a nanny share the cost is usually at the higher end of that range. Families will also sometimes do a separate contribution towards a nanny's health insurance (usually about $150-200/mo) but that depends on the family and whether the nanny needs a contribution.I'm happy to answer any other questions you may have!
