We are considering this for baby #3. I have 2 little ones and the last is a DE baby, but the cost for a fresh cycle, timing, etc was not the best. So, we are looking into frozen donor eggs that are ready to go.
We did not, but at the time we were looking into our financing options our clinic was offering a trial study involving freezing eggs. Basically we'd go through the IVF cycle as normal, but they'd freeze the eggs for a short time before fertilization. They said for study purposes, the amount of time frozen didn't make a difference in the outcome and the success rates were just as high as fresh IVF cycles. As it turned out, DH's insurance covered one cycle and we went that route. GL!
2 years, 2 surgeries, 2 clomid fails, 2 IUIs, 1 loss, IVF #1 - 10/25/10 = BFP!, DS is now 3.5yrs!
TTC #2 - 6/12 surgery #3, FET #1 & 1.2 = BFN, 12/2012 FET #2 = BFP! DD is 1.5 yrs!
Surprise! 12/16/14 BFP, loss #2 12/31/14
I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929
Yes. I went through the frozen DE program at RBA and now have two beautiful kids from it. The second was born last friday. PM me if you want to hear about our experience.
3 yrs ttc, 3ivfs, 4 iuis and finally a baby boy! And then a girl to follow. 2 under 2!
Thank you all for your responses. I do have a few questions for you ladies that used rba.
1. Did you go to Atlanta for the process?
2. Did you purchase 6 eggs or more?
3. We're you successful on the first try with them?
4. What was your thaw rate?
5. Did they thaw all 6 at once?
6. How much did this whole process cost?
If you are more comfortable answering questions via a pm, that works too! Thanks
1. Did you go to Atlanta for the process? I live in Atlanta, so it was local for me. 2. Did you purchase 6 eggs or more? We did the 6 eggs, but actually got 7 because of the way they were frozen. 3. We're you successful on the first try with them? Yes, we got 4 Grade A embies. 4. What was your thaw rate? All eggs thawed well, and we transferred 1 fresh embie in April 2010 - resulting in DS, and froze the other 3. We thawed 1 embie in Nov 2011 which resulted in DD born 12 days ago. 5. Did they thaw all 6 at once? Yes. 6. How much did this whole process cost? With my meds and no coverage, I think our cost for the first cycle was about $18K, and the FET was about $3500.
If you have any more questions, let me know. Also, if you want to talk in person PM me for my number.

1. Did you go to Atlanta for the process? I live in Atlanta and RBA was my clinic when I was using my OE but I did research before deciding to use them for DE. I also know lots of people travel there. It's easy to fly to Atlanta and it's only a short time you need to be here 2. Did you purchase 6 eggs or more? No I didn't purchase extra and I only got 4 eggs 3. We're you successful on the first try with them? Yes, successful transfering one egg and got two babies! 4. What was your thaw rate? They thawed 4 and all 100% fert rate 5. Did they thaw all 6 at once? Yes (4) 6. How much did this whole process cost? $16,500 did not include meds but it's just estrace and PIO. My insurance which has no fertility coverage covered the estrace. I think I spent $100 out of pocket on meds.
So RBA thawed 4 eggs, we had 100% fert rate, we transferred one, had two babies and we have one frozen embie in storage, the other two were ready and high quality to transfer but not quality enough to freeze.
Best of luck!

I did this in Chicago with my own eggs (Frozen when we did my daughter's IVF cycle - I was 28). My son is the result of our first try. We had 11 frozen eggs, and our protocol was to thaw and fert until we had 2 embryos for transfer. It took thawing 5 eggs to get 2 that survived. (mine were frozen in straws of 1, 2, and 3 eggs). Those two fertilized with ICSI and we transferred excellent looking 6 and 8 cell embryos.
Best of luck!
Brought to you by IVF, ICSI, limited fert, and oocyte cryopreservation. Because we're fancy like that.
We did frozen donor eggs from va Ivf and andrology in richmond va. We bought 9 frozen donor eggs. 6 thawed and fertilized. On day 5 we transferred one blastocyst and 3 out of remaining 5 made it to freeze. It cost about 16k. Our ins covered some medical for fresh donor eggs and frozen embryos, but not for frozen donor eggs at all, so credit card was hit hard. We calculated it and even with fresh cycle and ins paying some medical, fresh would have cost more than what we paid. I got a bfp on day 9 of 5day transfer! Am 46 yes old and 8 weeks tomorrow! U/s is on Friday, so just praying all is good! Good luck!
