AMH results are in...

It's .93 not feeling great about my number and will probably spend lots of time on the web researching won't spend as much time as I would have thanks to Mrs. Nukem and the chart she attached for me last time as I was awaiting these results :

Me 38 MH 41 - TTC since June 2010 - dx with Severe MFI. Straight to IVF with ICSI. IVF #1 - ER 06/13/12 - 9 Eggs Retrieved - 4 ICSI'd - only 2 fert. 06/15/12 - 2DT - 3 cell & 6 cell with fragmentation. Beta 06/29/12 - IVF #1 = BFN. 07/20/12 - WTF Appt -Told by our RE to quit IVF. Second Opinion from RE is good. IVF#2 - November 2012. Estradiol Pills Started 11/6. Stims start 11/16. ER 11/26 - 7 eggs retrieved - all mature. 4 fertilized with ICSI. ET 11/29 Transferred 3 embryos. Beta is 12/10. 1st Beta 81 2nd Beta 160 and 3rd beta 360!!! First U/S 12/21/12 - We saw one beautiful gest. sac. 2nd U/S is 01/04/2013 - H/B 183 02/05/13 - NT Scan - everything looks good and IT'S A BOY!  Aiden was born 08/20/2013.

IVF #2 is in progress.  ER was 05/12/14 - 11 eggs retrieved, 8 fertilized with ICSI.  ET was 05/15/14 - we transferred 3 embryos as we did on the cycle my son was conceived.  We were able to freeze 3 embryos. Beta is scheduled for 05/26/14.  1st beta - 111.  2nd beta - 159 didn't double :( 3rd beta Friday 5/30) - not a lot of hope left. Beta # 3 is 247 - probably ectopic.  Beta # 4 is 813 - possibly vanishing multiple sydrome?  06/05/14 - 5w4days - first U/S - we see a gestational sac and yolk - still have hope!  06/17/14 - 7w1day - U/S and saw and heard the heartbeat - Finally!  06/27/14 - 8w4days - Baby and heartbeat look and sound great :)  EDD 02/01/14 and It's a boy!

    I'm sorry your results weren't better than you wanted.  But it is probably "in range" for your age.  Did you getting a 2nd opinion with another RE for path forward?  I would want a different opinion since your RE was going to give up on you after only 1 failed IVF.

    I had a phone consult (about 20 minutes) with an RE last week that I had done a ton of research on and thought he would be a good fit for us - but went to a seminar last night for another RE and it confused me.  The first RE said he didn't understand why I was doing AMH testing and thinking of doing sperm defragmentation testing and that it really didn't have any effect since I was doing IVF - this didn't sit well with me.  The RE we talked to last night said we should be testing my AMH level that it is an important number he was much more open to acupuncture/herbs than the other RE.  It's tough for me because we failed our last IVF cycle and I feel like it was my fault because I picked that RE and I think to be honest I'm terrified that I will make another bad decision and regret it.  This whole process of picking an RE is driving me crazy - I researched the RE that we failed our IVF cycle with and felt so good about him and it's now making me second guess myself.  I have set up a phone consult with the RE from last night and it's an 1-1 1/2 hours on September 6th to go over our medical records we have sent him and get his feedback -  I should note both phone consultations were free of charge - hoping I can get more clarity with the phone consult - because now I'm throughly confused about who to go with :(

    It's totally natural to second guess yourself, I did the same thing with my RE after failing my first IVF.  I wanted to give them another try, since I wasn't expecting to be successful after 1 IVF and didn't know how I would respond since I had never done injectibles.  They have a good success rate too so I'm going to stick with them for now (and they didn't kick me out the door even with my poor FSH).  They did say 3 IVFs and I'd get the donor egg speech.  Have you researched the success rates with both RE's?  At 36, I think you should know your AMH (re: RE that didn't know why you were doing it).  How else would they know what protocol to use and dosage without looking at the overall picture (AMH, FSH, AFC, etc)?  I wouldn't count out the sperm frag test though since many ladies with MFI issues look into it when nothing else is conclusive.  But usually with low AMH/high FSH, you are dealing with egg quality issues too.

    I'm glad the phone consults are free, what have you got to lose?  Good luck with your decision, I know it's not an easy one but sometimes you just have to go with your gut (all things being equal).

    Thank you for listening to me and giving me a chance to vent and know that my feelings are normal - in my situation it's hard to not keep second guessing myself.  My FSH is 8.1 and my AFC was 18 on the last cycle - so I'm hoping that my AMH being .93 will maybe give my RE some understanding of what happened in my last cycle - retrieving 9 eggs and 5 of them were immature and we only worked with 4 that weren't great quality and even with ICSI only had 2 fertilize.  I think I'm going to go with Dr. Zouves - he has great number, Solar Flare was successful with him and had wonderful things to say about him and after doing some more research the other RE that I was considering hasn't reported any numbers to view statistically so that makes me very nervous and doesn't give me anything to compare it to.  I'm on the Infertility Board too and know you are part of the September Sweethearts - I hope this cycle is it for you - and I'm sending you wonderful positive thoughts...
