I have an almost 3 year old so I still have a lot of baby stuff. But we are having twins so my mom is telling me to register and that she thinks there will be another shower. I feel uncomfortable because I just had one 3 years ago, but at the same time a little help would be appreciated especially because we're going to have to buy a bigger car and add a car payment to our expenses because it's twins, etc. We would definitely find a way manage by ourselves and I'm not asking for a shower. But should I let someone throw one if they offer or insist?
Just wondering what your experiences have been, expecting multiples and baby showers?
Re: 2nd Baby Shower bc of Twins? (XP on 2nd Tri)
I also have an almost 3 year old and my twins are now 5 months but when i was pregnant my mother-in-law gave me a diapers and wipes party. My family has never had a shower for the 2nd or 3rd child in any family so they didnt give me one but they were all invited to the one my mother in law gave me. i kinda felt bad because my sister or sister in law never had a shower of any kind for their 2nd child but this is the first set of twins in our family so .... people will understand that becuase you are having more than one child that you are obvioulsy going to need more things than you did with your fist so i would def let them if they offer!
I had more of a girls night/sprinkle than a full blown baby shower. I registered for basic stuff (ie- more bottles, bottle nipples, crib sheets, diapers, etc) and received almost everything we need.
I didn't want all the fuss of a full blown shower- I liked that mine was low key.
A few of my friends are hosting a shower and they're treating it like my first. As we have three girls, all late-spring babies, welcoming two boys in the late fall will be a whole new thing for us. And we used the same gear through all three girls, so the carseat is expiring, stuff is falling apart, etc.
I was uncomfortable about it at first, but this is HUGE for us, and I really, really, really appreciate it when I look at my gigantic list of things to buy!
