Adoption

Finalized home study and ready to go...

My husband and I just completed our homestudy and are starting outreach.  I am trying to figure out the best approach to meeting the right birth mother as far as online profiles and communities.  We have a great website all ready and are working with a wonderful lawyer, but a lot of the decision making as far as online outreach is up to us.  All recommendations will be appreciated.

Re: Finalized home study and ready to go...

  • We are using parentprofiles.com.  We went live Friday and already had two contacts so it seems like a good site so far!  Good luck!

Congrats and GL.  We did some google advertising.  If you go that route make sure do have a good "exclusion" list since our first few days we had a lot of hits from "pet adoptions".  Also network as much as possible with family and friends.  I don't recommend FB advertising, but if you wanted to network that way (we didn't want to announce to "all of our friends" that we were seeking to adopt), it may also give you some leads.  We ultimately got lucky when a BM contacted our lawyer and she chose our profile.

  • I think we are going to sign up for parent profiles because it's also connected to so many other sites; hopefully we will have as much luck as you have.

All of our friends and family know about the adoption and are extremely supportive so I am not concerned about them seeing an ad.  I just wonder which would be more effective...facebook or google..not sure we can do both.

I have to stop researching and just start already..I just tend to go overboard and know with this it's not a good idea to sign on to every website out there.

  • I am definitely going to sign onto parentprofiles because they are also connected to so many other sites. Is that the only site you are using?
