Super attached this soon?

Hopefully it is a growth spurt or some passing mini-phase but dd only wants mommy. No daddy, no Gigi (grandma), absolutely no bottle...nothing!  This just started this week but next week I go to work (for one day then off til October). Up until this week, I could count on my fingers the number of times she cried. And she's always been happy and smiley with anyone.

Could it be a growth spurt? Anyone have any clues/advice/anything?? Thanks ladies!!!

Re: Super attached this soon?

  • DD is very attached to me. She doesn't want to be put down for naps and she cries when I leave the room sometimes. She is not clingy at bedtime though.

  • We seem to be having the same issue :-/ DD doesn't mind DH or the others that we live with (my mom and stepdad), but she doesn't fall asleep well for them and fusses much more. It seems like I'm the only one who can get her to quiet down quickly or fall asleep... That makes going out by myself really tough - DH and I had our 2nd date night since her birth on Saturday, and I guess she refused to nap for my mom which, in turn, made her pretty fussy. I'm the one who is with her 99% of the time; my parents don't help much because they're so busy and DH comes home close to her bedtime. I don't want her to get TOO dependent on me, especially since she'll eventually have to go to daycare.

I couldn't initially imagine that it's stranger/separation anxiety, just because that usually develops closer to 7-8 months, but I'm starting to wonder...

  • My DS has days like this too. I felt bad because the other day my H kept trying to hold him and DS would start crying every time. Then when I would take him, DS would stop. DS was also crying if I left him with H to go to the bathroom.

He's not like this everyday so I hope it's the same for your DD, jamiah. Hang in there!

  • My baby wants me to hold him. I think hes just more comfortable since hes my little lap baby.

During dinner, he pushes off my chest and holds his head up so high to watch dad eat (we sit side by side on the couch). He is mesmerized by him. He will stare at him for 15 minutes straight. Dad always gets smiles too.

I try my hardest to make Daddy a big deal. We go looking for Dad throughout the house and get all excited when we find him. My husband also watches him in the morning so I can sleep and they can have guy time. I think Mom is comfort, Dad is fun.

add: mornings are playtime so that works out nicely. When things get cozy in the evening, he wants me more.
