When does your LO go down for bed? We used to start bedtime routine at 9 pm but lately DD has been getting fussier around 8-8:30 so for the past few days we have been starting the routine around then. Well anyways, DD was asleep in her crib at 9:15 last night, woke up at 3:30 to eat, back down at 4:30 and then I had to WAKE HER UP at 9:30 because I knew she would be hangry (hungry and angry) if I let her sleep too much longer...
Do I need to start an earlier bed time if shes sleeping so much??
Re: Mamas of 2 month olds..
I was starting around 9, but the same thing happened.. My daughter was getting cranky earlier. We start at 8ish, bath, PJs, stories, she eats and is in bed at 9, she is sleeping for 8-10 hours at night, when she starts sleeping till 8am i will back her bed time up to 8pm (starting at 7) but as of right now this is working!!
I would start an earlier bedtime if she's getting fussy. Try it and see! Just go 15-30 minutes earlier and see how that goes, and you can keep going backwards if you need. Baby sleep is opposite, the earlier you put them down the longer they will sleep. And the better rested they are, the better they sleep. "Sleep begets sleep" From what I've found, if he gets fussy, I've waited too long. I look for when he gets "still", and starts just kind of staring. His activity level will drop at this time too.
DS (2.5 months) has started going down at 7 the past few nights, and last night he slept until 3AM. I could not be happier! We've had some pretty major sleep issues and it has been my project this week to get him 'caught up' on some missed sleep. It seems to be paying off. By 3-4 months they should have a 7PM-7AM schedule (with 1-2 wakings for feed), so it would make sense they start migrating towards that now.
I get DD1 to bed around 8ish and then DD2 will get a diaper change, swaddled and nursed around 8:30. Sometimes it takes a lot of bouncing and walking to get her down. Last night we finally got her down after nursing her again around 10ish and rocking her until she finally passed out at 10:30ish. Usually she sleeps until 6:45am with some nights she wakes around 3 to nurse. Some nights however, she goes down after nursing and doesn't wake up. It really just depends.
Goodbye little angel(7/22/2011)....see you in heaven
Goodbye my second angel (9/18/2011)
First off I love your term hangry...very clever...
my LO goes to bed usually around 8..sometimes a lil later, his bedtime use to be 9...but like you he use to start sometimes getting a lil fussy around 745 but but by 815 he's just not a happy camper so i pushed his bed time to 8...if he's happy & playful I'll let him stay up longer but if he starts getting fussy its straight to bed!! And I know its cause he's exhausted because he doesn't put a fight going to sleep..
Lucky!! I wish LO would stay asleep that long.
