C-sections

underwear

I remember after my first c section all my underwear sat right on my incision and I had to wear larger boy shorts.  Any suggestions for underwear to buy?

  • Low-cut bikini... Or if you do something that sits higher, you can always put a maxi pad across the front so that the pad sits on your incision.

See I found that the low cut anything sat RIGHT on my incision.  I hadn't really thought of it pre-delivery (when I didn't know I was having a c/s) and bought "granny panties" that were low cut bikini briefs and it was a terrible idea.  I ended up having to go out to Walmart and get some high rise briefs that sat pretty much at my belly button.  They were absolutely horrible but didn't rub against my incision.

I got these (or something very similar) and they worked great.   https://www.walmart.com/ip/Hanes-Women-s-Cotton-Briefs-6-Pack/896187

Plus they were cheap enough I didn't mind only wearing them for a few weeks and then being done with them.

I bought these, too, in a couple of sizes bigger than I would normally wear.

  • I wore the hanes briefs as well.  I think I needed them for about 4-5 weeks and then I was able to wear normal low cut undies.

Ick, no! The low cut always sat right on my incision. I wore gigantic Hanes briefs a couple of sizes too big. They were way above my incision and no need to wear a maxi pad on my stomach.

  • My incision was way down in my pubic hair and low-rise panties came no where near it.

  • I wore regular bikini cotton Collection from Victoria's secret.  The bikini cut rubbed my incision even though it's really low.....

I also wore something similar. I packed them in with my maternity cloths, my SIL just had a baby and wondered why they were in the box until she had a CS. She was thankful for them then, lol.

  • I sent DH out to buy high cut briefs when I ran out of my stash of hospital underwear. My incision is right at the hair line and low cut hit on it. I was fine with low cut at about 4wks PP.
