Jack woke up with horrible croup again this morning, so back to the doctor we went. She said he definitely doesn't have asthma but there could be something structural going on in his airway, so we have to see a pulmonologist for an evaluation. I'm assuming that involves a scope of some sort, so it's going to be a rough one for all three of us.
The pedi was going to give him aerosol steroids at first, but the longer she listened to him breathe she said he needed the oral dose again. They gave us a nebulizer to keep on standby and said that at the very first sign of any kind of cold we have to start using it because any amount of post-nasal drip will make him seize up again.
Andplusalso, he has some sort of bacterial infection that's causing a nasty rash in his diaper area.
I'm worried about my little guy! Not sure when the pulmonologist appointment is yet, DH has to check his work calendar.
Re: Have to see a specialist :-(
Poor kid. I hope the pulminologist can find the cause of the problem and it is nothing major. Hope he feels better soon.

What a crappy situation! Poor jack!
I have my FX that it is something easily fixable and that Jack gets better fast! Keep us all updated!
I agree better safe then sorry. I know you are worried but at least they check him out and he'll be better in no time. Hugs!
"What did my fingers do before they held you? What did my heart do with it's love?"
Awww poor J... Sorry to hear that you have to wait to see what is going on with hiim. I hope that you get your answers fast and it's an easy fix! Fx
Ditto this- at least they are looking out for him and trying to get to the root of the problem. Good luck!
Sorry to hear that you went through this too! From my understanding recurrent stridor can be a symptom of something larger so she wants to be on the safe side, plus she said she doesn't want to keep giving him steroids. We did brainstorm a lot though, she even asked about what he's been eating because one form of croup is allergic.
Hopefully we can get into the specialist sooner rather than later, the good news is we have a tremendous children's hospital here.
How stinky! :-( Poor Jack. I hope he's feeling better soon.
Keep us posted on what the specialist says.
