has anyone cut molars yet?

DD has been a TERROR this past week. I can feel the start of a molar coming through. We never had any problems with teething before. In fact half the time I didn't even know there was one coming until it was already through because it never really affected her. Ugh, when will it end?!

Re: has anyone cut molars yet?

  • No advice here but we are for sure trying to cut molars. We can feel the pressure of them. I think it is just a matter of time.

  • Yep, Xander has 4. With his first 8 teeth it wasnt too bad but the molars were horrible! The only thing that helped was letting him chew on frozen grapes and bananas.
  • We are going through it as I type. So far it's been 3 weeks of hell. Advil has been working. She bites everything(mostly me) and stopped sttn and naps are lost. I'm about to lose my mind.

Oh, frozen bananas. I should try that. She loves them; she won't keep chillded non-food items (like teethers) in her mouth. Thanks for the tip!

  • I think Logan is starting to get them... or more front teeth.  I can't tell.  But he has been more fussy than usually teething fussiness.  My friends daughter is 2 weeks older and her molars are poking through now...so I'm guessing his are starting.  He keeps shoving blankets into his mouth and screaming.  My poor little guy.  Mother is nature is cruel sometimes.  :(

The easiest way I found to freeze them without getting stuck together too bad was to cut them into slices and lay them on a baking sheet. After they were frozen I would put them in a ziplock freezer bag.

  • Yup, Logan cut 2 at the same time.  They are the devil.  He was so miserable and I felt so bad.  Luckily he was still sleeping through the night but his days were bad.  It helped that my SIL had him that week since my sitter was on vacation so at least he was able to rest and play at home.  He had her full attention and cuddles.

  • Yes, she got three in a day and didn't sleep for a week.  Good luck ;)

  • I cannot even explain how much I am dreading the molars coming in.
  • Molars? Really? Surely you must mean the premolars. The actual molars don't usually come in until much later (DD1 was 2.5 when hers started coming in). Regardless though, teething is a long and painful process - for both mama and baby. I hope your LO feels better soon.

    Premolars are adult teeth.

Sorry - First molars are referred to as "premolars" around here - hence my confusion. Guess I just learned something new today.

  • DS's got 2 molars that finally came in.. his gums were purple/red and so puffy for what feels like months. He's a super "easy" baby so he wasn't even really fussy at all so I'm no help there. There are lots of teething toys - I'd just give those a try along with tylenol if it gets really bad...

  • We have two in so far. We freeze everything and put it in a mesh feeder. Grapes, bananas, peaches. Any of those frozen fruits you buy at the store work too!

  • Alex has one in, one on the way, and 9 other front teeth in already.
