what size

DS is currently in 18 months.  He can sometimes wear 12 months still.

All these posts about fall wardrobe shopping got me thinking.  What sizes are you buying?  Should I buy half 18 months and half 24 months to get thru the entire winter until March or so?  Help!

Re: what size

  • Ds in 18 month clothes...I just bought some 18 month stuff and once that starts getting tight I will go and buy new 24 month stuff.  I didn't want to buy it all at once because I don't know how much longer he'll be in 18 month clothes and because I like reasons to get to shop more often!

  • I'm going to get 18 m. She has a fluffy butt so that helps..She's actually wearing a 6-9 dress right now (it's a little short)...with that said, I think it depends on what clothing item. For shirts  I feel they fit better in size 12. I will also only buy a little and go from there.

  • She is still wearing 6-9/12, so I am just getting 12 month stuff. Got some footie jammies at Costco today, but they didn't have much else besides layettes, and I didn't want the hats or bibs.

  • Mine has been in 18m for a while, since about 9m. Now that she's walking (running) around constantly, I think her weight is starting to balance out.

I don't think she's really grown much since her 9m appt. Even though the 18m still fit her pretty good, everything I buy now is all 24m or 2t.

  • We wear anything between 12 and 24 months. It depends on a lot of things. I think some of her hoodies are 9 months even still.

I just bought fall clothes for her half 18 months, half 24. We'll survive. :) Her growth also seems to be slowing a bit and she's actually getting thinner so I think it'll be fine for awhile.

  • DS is in 18-24m pants (specifically old navy jeans with the adjustable waist).

    And he's 2t tops.

I suspect the 2t tops will fit all winter. The pants I suspect we'll need to buy more in Jan/Feb in 2t. My kids are both all torso with short chubby legs.

  • Everything is still 12 months.  I have all of DD1's old clothes and all of her winter stuff is 18 months and then spring stuff is 24 months.  I don't anticipate having to get anything in a different size for winter.

  • DD is in 12-18 now, so I have some long sleeved stuff that is 12-18, and then some that is 18-24. I won't lie, I also have winter stuff for 2T and 3T, but that is because I apparently have a shopping addiction.
  • We have a mix of 9 and 12 month clothes. He can still wear some of his 9 month footie PJs. He is in some 12 month shirts but they look big on him and he is in mostly 12 month shorts and pants, though he does have a 9 month Khaki pants.

I tried some 18 month clothes on his but they were sooo long. I am not buying too many clothes because I got so many hand me downs from his cousin. I buy a lot at consignment stores so I just buy with the season for whatever size he is. I also don't stockpile because I know in a pinch I can always reach for hand me downs.

  • DD is in 12 month.  I put her in some 18 month, but they are way too big.

  • LO is mostly wearing 18m, pants he'll be in that size for a bit longer but he can wear 24/2T shirts.

But it really depends on the brand too, some stuff (ahem carters) is tiny/shrinks whereas other brands are larger. And things are cut differently too.  It's amazing to stand in the consignment shop looking at the various brands of 18m pants hanging together on the rack, and see the length vary by an inch or more.

For tops/one piece things I've been buying 24m/2T, for pants I have a few 24m but I need a few 18m for the fall.

I don't know.  The more I think about it, maybe I should just start off with 18 months and buy more later in the winter/late fall.  I went crazy and bought tons of 18 m clothes for this summer and really he was/is still in 12 months, although I can get away with some of the 18months becuase he is so long.

  • I'm just getting stuff in the sizes she's wearing now. By the time she needs bigger stuff it'll probably all be on clearance :)

  • Just went into 12 month size on her birthday, or the week after. Shell probably wear this until at least 18 months, she's always been "true to size." I'm not buying winter clothes, she already has two drawers full of the next size up. Can we say spoiled?! LOL

  • DD is still wearing 3/6-6/9 month and having two older sisters I am not buying her much of anything. I can't even guess what size she will e in at Christmas.
