I Am CERTAIN I Didn't Pee on the Floor Twice in 1 Day

I got up this morning, went to the bathroom, and 2 feet from my toilet made a little puddle. Clear, odorless, not a lot, but definitely a puddle.

Went to labor/delivery to get checked per their instructions on the phone. Spent all afternoon there only to be sent home. They monitored baby, did a visual exam, swabbed for amniotic fluid, and did an ultrasound to check fluid levels. They said baby looks totally happy, normal fluid levels, and no contractions. They said maybe it was a leak, maybe I just peed. So of course I was embarrassed, annoyed, and ridiculously frustrated.

I went home, took a nap, got up, and the same thing happened again puddle, clear, odorless, on the floor before I could get to the toilet.

Now I'm 100 percent sure that I didn't pee on the floor twice in one day and I'm sure it's a fluid leak. I called ld back and they said to go back in.

But for what? To be sent home again?

I'd rather just stay home at this point.

Does anyone else have experience with leaking and being sent home?

  • My neighbor told me the same thing happened to her, and her water had actually broken and they just didn't get it, and sent her home.  Are you able to get in touch with your dr?

  • Something similar happened to me. The second time I went to L&D the dr tried telling me that my water didn't break because I had a bulging bag during my cervical check. I think I had a high leak because I would only leak with contractions. They had me walk for an hour, and at the end I stood in one place to show the puddle on the ground.

If you are GBS+, I would go back to the hospital. If not, try walking some first.

  • Did they swab you with the paper? I forget what its called, but when I went into ld they swabbed me with it. They said if it turned another color, my water broke. It didn't, so I was sent home.

  • So I can talk to my dr tomorrow when she gets in the office and I'll probably email her tonight with a heads up.

No need for antibiotics before delivery so I'm good there.

They did swab me but didn't find anything. I'm not having any contractions, so far the leak is just when I stand up after laying down for a while so I'm thinking it's a high leak which is also why they didn't find anything on the swab. But even still, nothing has changed since they ran all those tests this afternoon.

I think I'll stay home tonight and if I make a puddle in the morning I'll bring my wet undies gross and myself to ld then. I just hope I'm not putting it off if I really should be there...

  • This happened to me and I went almost a whole week with my water leaking and being sent home every time I went in. I finally went in and told them that if it want fluid I still wasn't leaving until they found out what was going in with my body..they tried a little harder to test and found out that I not only had a high leak but she had been blocking my cervix and so no fluid was coming out until they moved her...i would go back and demand they find out was going on

  • If your water did break, maybe you'll go into labor. I agree, though. If it still feels the same I would go back, and make them do more tests. GL

  • Well, in less than 24 hours I've made 3 puddles and had another undie soaking after laying down for 30 minutes. The plan now is to "catch" whatever comes out when I get up this morning and bring it to ld to get checked out. Yup, I've been instructed to collect the amniotic fluid that falls out after I stand up in either a disposable cup or a Tupperware and bring it in so they can confirm a leak. Gross.

After all the prep classes and in all the reading, I never thought I'd be doing this! My aunt joked that who knew we'd need a forensic team just to have this baby?!
