I know you hear people say its bad to loose weight during pregnancy. But is it really that bad to try to loose "some" weight during early pregnancy? Im not saying anything crazy just watching what i eat and go to the gym. Im worried to gain lots of weight with my previous pregnancies ive gained 25-30lbs. Usually right after i loose the weight and go back down to 130lbs and always stay there. But since my last pregnancy (4yrs ago) for some reason ive been stuck around 140-145lbs. So im afraid starting off at this weight ill gain alot during the pregnancy and have a hard time getting it off.

Re: Weight?
My first pregnancy i was very sick and dropped 12 pounds. After giving birth i dropped another 15 from baby weight and water weight. My midwives were very concerned and we are going to be a lot more proactive with this pregnancy to make sure it doesn't happen again, but baby was healthy and very active through it all.
This. I think like everyone else you should watch for a healthy diet and continue w your usual exercise routine. At least this is what I have always been told. If you do not have an exercise routine, nice long walks or swimming is great for pregnancy. If you are really concerned talk to your dr :. Gl!
I've 40-50 lbs overweight and was doing well on Weight Watchers and losing weight before I got pregnant. I asked my doctor if I could continue to lose weight as long as I made sure I was getting in the nutrients that the baby needed. She told me not to lose weight. I pushed back saying that I was worried about gestational diabetes and difficulties with additional weight gain when pregnant, but she still said no. She told me that rather than gaining 25-30 lbs during the pregnancy that I should only gain 15-20. Your doc will most likely say the same thing.
That said, I'm almost 9 weeks in and have lost a few pounds due to MS. The first 5-6 weeks I was eating healthy, well-balanced meals, but for the past couple of weeks I'm lucky if I can get anything down...

You sometimes lose weight during the earlier part of the pregnancy, but then gain some later on. I've heard it's really not at all uncommon to lose within the first trimester, rather than gain.
I, on the other hand, have lost a lot of weight, and am still apparently losing it. If my baby wasn't on target for growth, then I'm pretty sure my doctor would be absolutely freaking out on me. But everything seems fine. My body just doesn't wanna hold onto any weight, for whatever reason...
There is nothing wrong with tracking calorie intake during pregnancy to make sure you are not going overboard. There is also no problem with moderate exercise during pregnancy as long as you are in fairly decent shape to begin with. BUT, you should probably not try to diet to lose weight during pregnancy.
I gained 50 lbs with my first. It was fun to sit on my a**, eat what I wanted, etc. but I paid for it later. So, this time, I am tracking my calories and trying to stick to around 1800-2000 a day and doing 1.5 miles on my elliptical in the evenings at a light jogging pace. Nothing excessive but enough to keep the weight gain from getting totally out of control. I'd like to keep my gain to between 20 and 30 lbs this time.
