Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Never Wake A Sleeping Baby?

My son is 4 months old and he hasn't ever been a very good sleeper.. except for the past two days. He got his immunizations on Monday and he slept for 6 straight hours that night, normally he wakes up every 2-3 hours.
On Tuesday he took two hour long naps, usually he only takes one nap for about an hour. He slept for 4 straight hours at a time that night, only waking up once or twice.
And today he took an hour and half nap this morning and now he's napping again and has been asleep from 3:15-5:23... Should I wake him up??
I keep checking on him to make sure he's alive haha.

Re: Never Wake A Sleeping Baby?

  • My DD occasionally naps for 3 1/2 hours.  I wake her if it's longer than that just so she's not up super late.  I'd let him sleep-enjoy it!

  • My LO slept like crazy for the three days after he got his shots--it was awesome. I only woke him when he went past 4 hours of sleep in the afternoon/evening so that his evening routine wouldn't get too off. My pediatrician mentioned that most of the babies she sees get pretty tired from them.

  • I only wake from naps if it's going to mess up her being able to get in enough feedings before bedtime. Napping a lot during the day will not necessarily make them sleep worse at night. Sometimes it makes them sleep better.
