i'm holding off on giving wheat til she is a little older but i bought rice pasta so just wondering if anyone's LO are eating these yet? do you do it as finger food or on the spoon?
We've given whole wheat pasta and quinoa pasta, and he did just fine. I just gave him spaghetti noodles to eat - I'm not sure how much he got in his mouth, but that was the best/easiest way I could think of to give to him. He also had the penne / chicken from a few pasta dishes and the penne was easier for him to eat. We don't eat pasta often at home, but when we do it is usually spaghetti (our quick meal night). If I was making a meal just for E, I would use penne - more of a chance he would actually be able to feed himself the noodle.

My daughter has had whole wheat pasta, quinoa, and brown rice. She does very well with all of them. I do cut the pasta for her, especially if we're doing long noodles.
She's gotten regular pasta - LOVES it! I overcook short pastas like penne, piccolini, etc and give them to her in bite sized pieces and she eats it as finger food. She loves pasta sauce too.
I started her with rice flour fusilli but it was fussy to cook to a soft enough texture and the leftovers were crazy tough the next day!
She's now on regular durum (wheat) pasta. I mix macaroni with cottage cheese and put some one on her tray for her to explore/eat/I also spoon feed it to her so that I know she's actually getting food in!

that's good to know. i was planning to make it & store some to reheat but i will just cook what she will eat. thanks!
DD loves both rice and pasta! She literally hasn't met a food she doesn't like yet. I try to give her those things at the end of the day before a bath or a dip in the pool though, because they are by far, the messiest things to deal with. I feel like I need to hose her down half the time!

Lucas gets brown rice pasta. I over cook it and chop it up. I grab a handful for 2 meals and sautee with chopped veggies. I take the remainder plain pasta and yes it gets hard but all you do is microwave it with a few tsp's of water and it's good as new!
Re: does anyone give rice or pasta yet?
We are also holding off on wheat/gluten until after 1 year.
I have given rice and rice pasta. I add some puree to the pasta as a "sauce" and he feeds himself. It has gone over really well!
