DS is currently in 18 months. He can sometimes wear 12 months still.
All these posts about fall wardrobe shopping got me thinking. What sizes are you buying? Should I buy half 18 months and half 24 months to get thru the entire winter until March or so? Help!
Re: what size
I'm going to get 18 m. She has a fluffy butt so that helps..She's actually wearing a 6-9 dress right now (it's a little short)...with that said, I think it depends on what clothing item. For shirts I feel they fit better in size 12. I will also only buy a little and go from there.
Mine has been in 18m for a while, since about 9m. Now that she's walking (running) around constantly, I think her weight is starting to balance out.
I don't think she's really grown much since her 9m appt. Even though the 18m still fit her pretty good, everything I buy now is all 24m or 2t.

We wear anything between 12 and 24 months. It depends on a lot of things. I think some of her hoodies are 9 months even still.
I just bought fall clothes for her half 18 months, half 24. We'll survive.
Her growth also seems to be slowing a bit and she's actually getting thinner so I think it'll be fine for awhile.
DS is in 18-24m pants (specifically old navy jeans with the adjustable waist).
And he's 2t tops.
I suspect the 2t tops will fit all winter. The pants I suspect we'll need to buy more in Jan/Feb in 2t. My kids are both all torso with short chubby legs.

We have a mix of 9 and 12 month clothes. He can still wear some of his 9 month footie PJs. He is in some 12 month shirts but they look big on him and he is in mostly 12 month shorts and pants, though he does have a 9 month Khaki pants.
I tried some 18 month clothes on his but they were sooo long. I am not buying too many clothes because I got so many hand me downs from his cousin. I buy a lot at consignment stores so I just buy with the season for whatever size he is. I also don't stockpile because I know in a pinch I can always reach for hand me downs.

LO is mostly wearing 18m, pants he'll be in that size for a bit longer but he can wear 24/2T shirts.
But it really depends on the brand too, some stuff (ahem carters) is tiny/shrinks whereas other brands are larger. And things are cut differently too. It's amazing to stand in the consignment shop looking at the various brands of 18m pants hanging together on the rack, and see the length vary by an inch or more.
For tops/one piece things I've been buying 24m/2T, for pants I have a few 24m but I need a few 18m for the fall.
