CP: How are you basing your EDD?

With so many post EDD first time babies in my last poll, I was curious how many people on the board right now with this pregnancy know their O date and are basing it from there?  My cycles were wonky and if I based it off my LMP it would be 9.8 but my O date puts me at 9.11 and my u/s has matched that since the beginning.

Re: CP: How are you basing your EDD?

  • I'm basing mine off of the egg retrieval and embryo transfer of my IVF cycle...pretty darn accurate, if I do say so myself :)

I was basing my EDD from my O date from charting. However, my doctor used my early u/s to date the pregnancy, and since it was confusing to use one due date for myself (9/11) and one for my doctor (9/9), I just stuck with what my doctor is using.

Hi, momma! :)  Hope all is well!

Damn it...I knew I'd forget an option...I apologize!

  • With DD, I based everything on my own tracking since I thought the LMP date was off by almost a week.

With this one, I had no clue, so I'd rather base it on the early u/s than the pulled-it-out-of-my-arse guess at my LMP. Hence, why I'm here and not sitting on the Octomoms board.

Rora, we were giving Anita a hard time last night in chat about messing up your plans to labor at the same time and share delivery fees.

  • EDD from ultrasounds has been 9/6. Well, the ultrasound tech told us 9/6... and later the report said 9/7. Whatever, I stuck with 9/6.

Charting gives me a due date of 9/10. I'm betting he doesn't make his appearance before then anyway. :)

  • We'd been using the rhythm method for 3 years (to NOT conceive) and so I knew my cycle pretty well. I was also sick at the time and we were not as busy that month IYKWIM so there was just the one time on Christmas Eve. My early US confirmed it for us.

  • When I told the doctor my LMP I adjusted it so it lined up with my O date. So they think it's LMP, but I know it's O.

  • I was charting. I am basing my EDD on my temp jump with OPK. My early dating ultrasound confirmed. If I went based on my LMP, I would be due a few days earlier.

  • Mine is also based off of my egg retrieval date.  I even know from the embryologist what time they fertilized my eggs that were collected.  My OB tried to give me another date, but in this instance I defer to my RE, much more knowledgeable on IVF than an OB.

I am basing mine off of my first ultrasound, which happens to be only be 2 days before my EDD based on my LMP.

This. Exactly.  Like, I'm kind of creeped out by how very exactly "this."

It was also less awkward in a conversation to say 9/9 than 9/11.  Oh, and 9/9 has the added benefit of being Grandparents' Day.

  • I would have said my EDD was 9/26 based on my charting, but Drs. have it dated by ultrasounds at 9/28. :shrugs:

    2 days means nothing.

  • My cycle has always been extremely regular 28 days so I just went with LMP. Early ultrasound confirmed the dates so there's never been a discrepancy, except one time when one of the nurses forgot it was a leap year and was off by one day

My doctor used my LMP for both kids but I'm pretty certain I know when I O'd and baby is measuring closer to my O date. Same thing happened with DS and he was born on my EDD from my O date, but a week early from my LMP date.

I've never been one to really care what my EDD is. When people ask when I'm due I just say the end of Sept.

  • I didn't learn about the pregnancy until 7wks so my EDD is based off of an early ultrasound at 7.5wks. I thought I had my period that month so I couldn't even begin to guess my lmp. So far my EDD has stuck to 9/22 after 6 ultrasounds so it must be pretty accurate. Baby is always measuring "as it should".

  • Well I don't know my O date from an OPK or from temping, but from a sharp pain in my side that occurred right around the time I was supposed to ovulate according to the calendar. I made a note of it on my fertility calendar just in case.

It was the first month we "tried", and it was a very half assed attempt (just like, oh hey I think i may be O'ing soon according to my menstrual calendar so let's have sex!).

Well I got pregnant, and the first u/s put my due date at exactly what I estimated based on the O date from the pain in my side. It would have been 2 days earlier had we gone by LMP.

  • Going off LMP, but my O date from charting and the early u/s has him about 3 days earlier. OB didn't feel need to update DD for such a small window.

  • My LMP, date I got a + on my OPKs and u/s have all been giving me the same EDD this entire time.  I am measuring right on track now too.

  • Both LMP and charting/O date.  We were trying to avoid the month I got pregnant and only had sex once in our fertile window.  This baby is a Christmas miracle.  Literally.

  • Based on LMP it would be 9/7 or 9/8 (I forget now), based on O it would be 9/4, but based on early u/s they came up with 9/1 (which is what they are using) I fully expect to go past that date!

  • I had an early ultrasound. I had a m/c in early December, and another bfp early January without a period in between...turns out I was only NOT pregnant for about 2 weeks...

  • Based on my LMP, my initial EDD was 9/13, but since I O late, it should be closer to 9/20. Initial u/s estimated 9/23, but they moved it up to 9/18 when I changed doctors and got a second ultrasound. At this point, I just tell people 'mid September' when they ask. I have NO idea when she'll make her appearance :).

  • Based off LMP and O date, I'm due 9/4, early ultrasound at six weeks put me at 9/7.

We've been going by the 9/7 EDD. This way if they start talking inductions for a late baby, it buys me a couple of days.
  • I actually got pregnant because I was totally off on my cycle after being very predictable. So I'm going by an early u/s, from when I was around 5weeks.
  • We banged once that month. It was pretty easy to figure out. U/S confirmed.
  • I'm going by the date they gave me at my first ultrasound at 7 weeks. According to that date, they match up with when we were intimate, so it makes sense (my period had been irregular before that so it wasn't a good gauge). Baby measured on track at the a/s at 19 weeks. EDD seems to be pretty right on. :)

  • I've always had irregular periods from 1 week apart to 6 months apart. Even with birth control, they're still not "regular". I haven't had a period since last summer, so they had to do a dating ultrasound.

  • My LMP was just a guess b/c I had been slightly irregular since getting my period again after having DS & I hadn't been keeping track of dates. But, at my 6ish week ultrasound, I was measuring exactly with that guesstimate.

  • Mine is based on last monthly period, a blood test and an early ultrasound (they all came back with the exact same date).

  • I never charted anything, I went with my LMP.  All ultrasounds have charted him right on track.

  • My OPK and LMP pretty much gave the same date... which also corresponded with initial u/s scans and fundal height growth
  • My LMP date and early u/s matched exactly. I picked SS.

Somehow LO has managed to measure exactly on the due date 9/16 at each u/s. 9/16 is also the day based on LMP.

  • I've based it on my IUI date, not as accurate as an IVF transfer but pretty darn close.
