Re: CPW - Big Kid Bed

  • SS - no idea. Depends on other babies and when DD wants to get into a big bed. Truly haven't thought about it.

  • Probably when we have a second kid. She is showing no signs of wanting to be out of it, so until she starts climbing, or we have another, she will stay put. So I don't know when any of that will be!
  • My guess is two years, but I don't know. For a while, I was thinking about switching him over when the new baby comes (when he is 17 months), but I decided that is too young. I think that I will be happy to still have something to contain him in during that already rough transition. I ordered a second crib. They are both matching wood, but one converts to a toddler bed. We will switch whenever we feel like he is ready.

  • DD never was a crib climber (still isn't, actually), but we switched her to the toddler bed at 2.  A lot will depend on if DS tries to escape or not.  DD wouldn't even leave her big kid bed on her own until 3.5, which was nice because we didn't have to worry about her wandering in the night!

  • Somewhere between 18 months-2 years. DS will be 19 months when this baby is due. I kept DS in the PNP until he was 6 months, so I know I have a little cushion time after the baby is born for the transition. I have a feeling DS will be ready to move later rather than sooner since he's on the slower end of the developmental curve with his gross motor. I don't have room for 2 cribs in that bedroom anyways.

  • Haven't even thought about this.. When it happens I will be sad so I will not be rushing it at all. DS's crib is convertible so it will transition to a toddler bed first which I am sure he will use for a while before we convert it to a "big boy" bed.. I will know when he's ready like most everything else haha
