I talked to my nieces this morning, and told them that I'm going to have a baby in March. They are 5 and 6 and have a 3month old sister and a 1yr old brother, and several 2nd and 3rd cousins who have just been born, so babies are nothing new to them.
My 5 year old niece wanted to know how big the baby is, if it's a girl or boy, and if she can talk to the baby yet. She told me I need to have a girl so they can play dress up with her. I told her the baby will be able to hear in a few weeks and then they can call and talk to the baby. She also told me I have to have the baby on her birthday so that they can share a birthday cake.
My 6 yr old niece asked what we were naming the baby. I told her Emily if the baby is a girl, and Bradley if the baby is a boy. She said "I don't like those names. If it's a boy I will call it Potter or Weasly, and if it's a girl I will call it Candy or Princess. Which do you like better?" She also told me that if I have a boy, I need to "trade him because boys are no fun to play with."
I just thought those were absolutely adorable and wanted to share ![]()

It's a girl!
very cute.
My 5 yr old niece kept asking what the baby was doing, if it was a boy or girl and what we were going name the baby. She drew a picture for me of a boy and girl and said that I am supposed to cross off which ever it isn't and give it to her when I find out the sex. She even made that baby a piggy bank at a painted pottery thing and tried to give me 2 stuffed animals she got when we were on vacation for the baby. I asked her to hold onto them for the baby. She has an 11mo old sister so I was kinda surprised at how excited she is. I thought that she would be so over babies since she realizes she has to share with the baby. Kids really are cute.
How cute!
When I told my niece and nephew their reactions were funny.
Isabella (5) said ? I know what you are having a TWINS a boy and a girl. (in her I know everything voice) it was cute.
Aiden(4) said ? So you have a lizard growing in your belly like when I was a lizard growing in mommy?s tummy.
They are too cute. Got to love the little ones and their thoughts.
Holy cow, all of these stories just melt my heart!
My 11yo nephew said "It'd better be a boy so I can teach him how to throw a football." My SIL said "there's a chance it could be a girl" and he responded with "Well, we'll get her into fast-pitch softball then."
He's sort of a quiet kid so I was shocked at how excited he was.
To the OP, I'd totally back your niece up on the Harry Potter names! :-D
