XP BF over a year question

Recently my daughter has not been very interested in nursing through the day. She'll want to bf at bedtime and overnight though. She is just a very busy bee and so distracted during the day. I still pump at work and she takes my milk in a sippy at daycare while she's on the go.

Tell me, has your little one ever done this and then come back to nursing at the breast during the day? Is this some kind of daytime only nursing strike? My favorite time of the day was nursing her after I picked her up from daycare and I am missing these quiet moments to reconnect :(

  • My youngest was like that. I night-weaned her at 13 months, hoping she would start nursing more during the day...it didn't work. She weaned completely by 16 months (even though I wasn't ready!).

  • Charlotte was like that around the same age. She will occasionally ask to nurse during the day now, but mostly it's morning, before nap, and before bed. I'm in the process of finally night weaning. I wanted to make sure we got to 2 years bfing, and night weaning can sometimes lead to early weaning.

  • Well I'm not even a month past the 1yr mark, but LO doesn't ask to nurse as much during the day (when home) as he used to so he mostly naps at wakeup, before naps and before bed. Along with after dinner.

I will offer sporadically during the day but he's usually too busy playing. I think it's a common thing at this point because they are just getting good at walking/such so they are really active and don't want to stop and nurse.

LO still nurses overnight at least twice, sometimes more, but we bedshare so it's NBD most nights. I don't plan to night wean until closer to two years unless he does so on his own. I work FT and we aren't introducing WCM so I want to make sure he's getting enough milk and to maintain my supply.
