Keep your comments to yourself!

So I was talking to some people at work and they where asking me about my pregnancy, when one of them said "So when are you due again"?. I said Thanksgiving. She then said, "And you are sure there is not 2 in there?" WTF lady, I don't even know you, and who do you think you are to say something like that. I don't see the reason why people say crap like this. I feel huge as it is, and news flash, I know I have 3 months to go idiot. I am pregnant.

Re: Keep your comments to yourself!

  • That's insane- I'm sorry that happened...I'm choosing to let it go through one ear and out the other like I take other issues and it's kept me pretty calm. I feel huge too, hang in there deary! People have no common sense these days or they like to just have word vomit...they should know better

  • Ugh that is so rude! And I'm sure annoying to hear. I hate when people tell me how to be a parent, or how I should do things after the baby is born. OR that their parenting is the best way to go. OR that I'm crazy for having a natural birth. I just have to let it go in one ear & out the other! It's so annoying, but we know what's best for us and YOU know that you are healthy and that baby is growing wonderfully. That's all that matters!

  • Ugh, that is so rude! I don't understand how pregnancy makes it okay for people to make comments about our bodies. Its like as soon as people know you are carrying a baby it gives them the green light to say what they want about your shape or size. Some people are really ignorant about how offensive things can be!
  • Just wait until you're within a couple weeks of your EDD.  I was actually asked if I'm dilated yet, and how things are progressing.

Umm... the current state of my cervix is something I'll keep to myself, thanks.

  • it doesnt. it doesnt make it okay, in fact, they should be more sensitive. its hard enough to deal with our hormones but c'mon. its just some people are rude and insensitive. ive had friends tell me that i actually look better now, than before i was pregnant, but there are always those few that are gonna hate.

just ignore them and laugh it off ((: pretty soon, nothing else is going to matter but that sweet beautiful baby ((:

  • My DH's aunt said this to me when I was only 23 weeks...I about died.  She said it in front of my MIL, who very tactfully came to my aid and replied that flowy maternity clothes make everyone look more pregnant than they are.  It was so frustrating because all my coworkers give me crap about being small, I just can't make anyone happy.
  • Honestly, what is with people?!??  First of all, you look BEAUTIFUL!  I have gained a lot of weight this pregnancy (30 freakin pounds already!!), nearly all in my bump, but still, I'm definitely sensitive about it and certainly don't need people pointing it out.  I have a mirror and a scale, I'm aware.  I think we should be prepared to respond to people who say that by looking them directly in the eye and saying, "Well that's a really rude thing to say.  I don't think I'll respond." and then just carry on.  It puts it back on them, makes them realise they've said something stupid, and hopefully makes them stop saying things like that.

Hugs to you and stay strong.  You are growing a baby!!  Yayayay!!

  • I can't stand when people comment on my clothes being tight. Not only are you telling me that I am huge, but also that I can't dress myself. Yes they are tight, but I'm not showing skin and the seams aren't ripping so I am going to wear it. I am bringing a child into this world and I rather save money for her then to spend it on a whole new wardrobe I will only wear for a couple months.

Oh my gosh! I think I would have punched the person in the face!

  • Ugh! So sorry people are idiots. I had the opposite said about me. I didn't start showing until about 2 months ago and one of my supervisors actually told someone I work with she thought I was lying about being pregnant! REALLY!?! And ever since I started showing, she hasn't said a single word to me.

Thanks. Its always nice to have someone to relate to and feels the same way. I don't have any other friends that are pregnant to talk to except on here, so Its nice.

  • You just have to let it roll off you.  Seriously, approach what strangers/acquaintances say as if they are wearing their "stupid hat" and can not help themselves and just nod and carry on.  No sense wasting time or energy getting upset everytime someone makes a stupid comment to a pg lady....80% of what you are told will be stupid!

  • I have realized lately that people just love to talk to a pregnant woman, and they don't know what to say, so they say something inappropriate. They just want to say SOMETHING. I was at Hobby Lobby the other day and one stranger told me "that's gonna be a big baby" and another stranger said "you look so cute, it must be a boy because you're carrying small." This was within 5 minutes! Ok, it is a boy, but none of these people are doctors, they just say things. Don't let it bother you!

  • Eh I would probably just ask them when they were due and when they say they aren't pregnant, I would just say "are you sure b/c it sure looks like!"  =)

I have the opposite reaction from people. When I tell them I am 28 weeks they can't believe how small I look.  Thankfully no one has made comments about my baby being small or anything.

This.  You just have to let it go.  I have consistently been told, "You're so tiny!" or "You're going to have a tiny baby!".  Actually, my baby is measuring right on track, but thanks.  It bothered me at first, but now I just play along, and say, "Really?  No one has said that to me before.  Interesting."

    I got this comment today:

Co-worker - "So, are you doing the cloth diaper thing or disposable?"

Me, thinking, seriously? - "Yes, we're doing cloth diapers.  We hired a local service."

Co-worker - "Oh, we'll see how long that will last.  Wait until that baby has his first blow out.  You'll change your mind."

Me, wishing I could roll my eyes - "Maybe, but we're trying it out anyway."

  • People just like to say something about the size of a pregnant woman.  I am not sure why.  A guy at the gas station asked me when my due date was cause I must have been due anyday now...A few hours later someone asked me when I was due and when I told them they said wow you are so small.  Then some weird lady winked at me in the grocery store.  I am not sure what it is about being pregnant but everyone stares and everyone says something like they have never seen a pregnant woman before.

  • Ugh... people are so stupid. I have been lucky so far with people only saying nice things. Oh yeah, and friends and family commenting on my huge boobs... but that just is funny to me. But I am just under 29 weeks now so there is still plenty of time for people to say something stupid and I am only getting bigger! I am just waiting for a stupid comment or someone to touch my belly (who I don't know, I mean). That hasn't happened to me yet either but I don't know how I will react if I get belly-groped by a stranger. They better catch me on a good day or they might get punched in the face- LOL!

thanks for posting this. i was saying this just this morning. first the janitor at my office asked me if i was having twins (i will forgive him because he is a little old man and may not know any better.) and then my creepy boss was like "i watched you get out of your car this morning you were moving really slow." wtf.

i also get a lot of "you still have that long to to??!!" i know part of it is hormonal but i am getting so annoyed and upset by it. i wish people would just shut up.

on the flip side, another mom at my son's daycare told me i looked pretty this am. i thought that was nice of her.
