Just wondering if anyone has rented a birthing tub and where from. My mw told us about aquadoula.com but I'm just wondering if anyone has ordered from there or somewhere else and their experience. TIA
My MW owns hers and rents it out, so I'm not much help... One a side note, it's not covered by insurance which is BS because Ds's birth cost me zero out of pocket! Hilarious that they'll pay $10,000 happily to a hospital but won't pay $300 for a tub...

That is complete bull especially because I've heard that the tub makes it more possible to have a birth without the cost of medication. Therefore, making it way cheaper. I was hoping for a home birth but since it's my first and we're a little unsure of how my body will react we are doing the water birth at the hospital with a mw. She sadly doesn't own one, Aquadoula.com is where I think we'll have to rent ours and it's $249 plus $120 shipping (which covers both ways). I found cheap plastic blow up ones other places for less but they don't come with a water heater and you don't get it for 3 weeks. I was just hoping there was something similar to aquadoula for less. With our next one we would like to do home birth depending on how this one goes of course. Good luck with your home birth. I'd love to hear your experience once you've delivered.
I used one in the hospital, but it was SO nice to have. I absolutley recommend it!
Yeah I've read a bunch of books about it, and of course have seen the business of being born. So I'm really wanting to do it that way, but sadly the hospital and mw both do not own one you have to rent one on your own. So I was hoping to see different rental options.

Yikes, that is pricey. So crazy your hospital doesn't have one! I think it'll be worth it for the heater since it'll be winter. Have you posted this on the Natural Birth board? I bet someone can help over there. GL on your birth! I had Ds in hospital, so I completely understand. We can swap stories after all is said and done

The reason it costs out of pocket is because the birthing tub is not considered scientific and has no real proven facts; basically, it's too "crunchy" for insurance companies to lay any trust in. I don't agree with it, but it's how it is for now.
I found out that I can labor in the tub at my hospital, but can't actually have a water birth. I'm going to do a hospital tour and find out if they have one I can rent, or if I should just bring a little blow up one from Walmart.
