Mother's of twins please help

My brother and his wife told me this weeked that they are pregnant with twins!  This will be their first (and second LOL) and I was wondering if there was anything that you could not have lived with out.  For example: with my son I could not have lived with out his swing and the video baby monitor.  I would like to be able to help them out and see if there is anything I may already have that will be a help to them.  Thanks much!

  • Swings!! Good swaddle blankets, still using the darn things! Double stroller, we have a graco one but other MoM's love and swear by the double snap and go stroller too! I use that thing almost everyday just to get out of the house is I have all 3 kids with me. Otherwise don't know how we would have survived the 1st few weeks without all the wonderful frozen meals friends made for us!

  • I would offer anything that you have that you don't mind giving them or lending to her.  There really isn't anything that I would turn down from my sister and she's planning on having a second child one day so as my girls outgrow clothes/toys/swings/etc. I give it all to her for her to use one day.

If you're looking for something to buy her or do for her, I agree with swaddle blankets (we loved the Swaddle Me's) and it would have been awesome to have frozen meals.  Also, just help would be great - depending on what she wants either go over and clean or cook, or offer to sit with the kids so she can sleep.

  • I can't speak to what's essential once the babies actually get here but I would offer to do any chores/grocery shopping/cooking, etc. I can say that having my mom come up and prepare a freezer full of food/meals for us was a life saver since my husband can't boil water. I'm not on full bed rest but have been on restricted activity since around 18 weeks so cooking/grocery shopping is a real challenge since I'm not supposed to be on my feet for more than 10-15 minutes at a time.

It so sweet of you to be thinking of them!

  • Definitely the swing that goes both front to back and side to side. Also, my girls LIVED in their Rock n Plays the first couple months. I hightly recommend those!

  • Oh and aside from purchasing them something...babysitting even if you just go there for a couple hours here and there so they can get sleep is the best gift in the world. No food, present or anything meant more to me than having family let us catch up on sleep...especially the 1st 3-4 months.
