There are maybe four ways I would respond to an unidentified text. 1) Respond with STOP bc I am not interested. 2) Ignore and Delete 3) Report to my carrier if I was offended/annoyed enough or 4) Report to the police if I felt threatened and/or offended enough.
In conclusion though I am racking my brain I cannot come up with a good reason to send an unidentified text.
