Moving over from July 2012..

Well, DH and I were originally planning for the arrival of our LO on July 27th but he figured he wanted to get out and see the world.. 6 weeks and a day early. So after a month in the NICU and another month+ getting adjusted to a busy household, I've finally found my way back to planet Earth and TB. Hello all

Welcome! I'm sorry you had to go through the NICU, no parent should have to go through that. How is your LO doing now? Everything ok?

He's doing wonderfully He was born at 33 weeks 6 days (4lb 6oz), and the hospital we were at doesn't send babies home unless they are 35 weeks and have the suck/swallow/breathe ability mastered. He never had to be on a respirator, thank goodness, but he did have some issues breathing while he was sleeping. Apparently it's pretty common for preemies to hold their breath or forget to breathe when they fall into a deep sleep, which in turn makes their heart rate drop and sets off alarms, so that kept him in the NICU for 26 days. We brought him home with a heart monitor 4 days before he turned a month old, and we haven't had any issues. It was just something he had to grow out of. Pretty soon he'll be off the monitor. He's now 9lb 9oz, and just about grown out of his newborn clothes (finally!)
